Financial Operations Analyst I

What you’ll do

In a few words…

Abarca is igniting a revolution in healthcare.  We built our company on the belief that with smarter technology we are redefining pharmacy benefits, but this is just the beginning.

As Financial Operations Analyst you will be responsible for client billing and provider payment process, pharmacy price appeals, claims adjustments and other tasks related to Abarca Health’s clients. Also, will assist all initiatives related to PBM client implementation and the company’s book-of-business, including Government, Medicare Part D, and Commercial clients. The Finance Operations Analyst will support other analytical process, and external audits, as needed and will perform other tasks related to Abarca Health’s clients’ financial performance (yawn, thank God there’s you!). Although this all sounds very serious (all those numbers!), we hope you’ll be somewhat fun and not a stick in the mud.

The fundamentals for the job…

  • In this role, you will be the in-house financial go-to whiz, in charge of client billing and provider payment processes. This includes the related analysis, controls and reconciliations. This means you are responsible for invoice submission to client, payment issuance to providers and solving any issues or concerns to ensure client satisfaction.
  • You will monitor DMRs and adjustments to approve, as applicable.
  • You will have the last word regarding pharmacy appeals, assuring compliance with contractual timeliness requirements.
  • Along with the Pharmacy Network team, you will manage any pharmacy concerns, and ensure resolution and satisfaction.
  • While conducting all activities, be able to identify and proactively suggest any margin for opportunities/risks.
  • Assist in the documentation of business requirements for the Finance Operations modules enhancements. You may as well go ahead and provide recommendations and solutions for business process improvements. We encourage that.
  • Help with documenting reporting requirements for Business Intelligence and Analytics to create new reports that will allow the Finance Operations team to conduct their work more efficiently and assist in decision-making.
  • Provide support to the Medicare Reporting Requirements tasks and reconciliations, as well as other reporting requirements for other lines of business such as Commercial, Medicaid, among others.
  • Provide client support and/or compliance/audit activities and collaborate in special projects and activities as assigned.

What you’re made of

The bold requirements…

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. (In lieu of a degree, equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in an analytical, finance, accounting, or auditing role. Experience in healthcare or PBM is a plus.
  • Able to generate financial reports and analysis utilizing dashboard tools - Tableau, QVW and Excel tools.
  • Detail oriented problem solver, able to quickly spot trends and discrepancies, with financial acumen and strong analytical thinking skills.
  • Computer proficiency, understanding and use of Microsoft Office products, and Internet experience (basic digital skills you’ll use on a daily basis).
  • You can communicate effectively (read, write, speak, daydream, argue, flatter, add, subtract, etc.) in English and Spanish.

That something extra we´d love to see…

  1. Integrity: You don’t have a single dishonest or disloyal cell in your body. Down to the marrow, you can be trusted. This applies to everything about you in every area. Some people can find this quality boring, but it’s as rare as element 115 and just as precious.
  2. Analytical: You value the power of context & enjoy examining the past. You get the present by analyzing (sometimes over-analyzing) events leading up to it. Your strategic and critical mindset requires all of the information to proceed.
  3. Team Builder/Team Player: As a builder you are an architect of plans, a visionary, excited to structure new processes and tactics. Building your own team thrills you. In addition, you are detail-oriented to the Nth degree, yet you also manage to see the big picture. You are easy to relate to and get a deep satisfaction from working hard with others to achieve goals.
  4. Negotiator: You navigate difficult conversations towards productive outcomes. You are driven to achieve the elusive win-win (or else, lose-lose). You have a certain aplomb that can take control of a situation and drive decisions.
  5. Responsible/Accountable: You take responsibility, own up to what you say and what you do. You don’t disappoint when you commit, as your word is your bond. You live by high values like honesty and loyalty and can be a bit judgmental. You stand by your actions and decisions, as well as those of your team.

The above description is not intended to limit the scope of the job or to exclude other duties not mentioned. It is not a final set of specifications for the position. It’s simply meant to give readers an idea of what the role entails.
