Tangocard is hiring a
Enterprise Data Architect

The Job

The Enterprise Data Architect will help shape the future of Tango Card by identifying areas of improvement around our enterprise data platform and business systems. This human will bring a robust functional and technical understanding of data architecture and business applications to the table. Using their expertise and collaborative skills, they will work across the organization to analyze problems, create a solid foundation, and drive progress for your fellow Tango Cardians.

This is a high-impact role on a growing Data Architecture team. You and your colleagues will take a “big picture” approach, break down silos, and ask the right questions to provide the right solutions - all in the agile environment. We are seeking someone passionate about modern data platforms like Snowflake and DBT, and who shares our vision for a consumer model to democratize data and empower analytics across our organization and our best-of-breed tech stack.

Reports To: VP, Business Technology

As Enterprise Data Architect at Tango Card, you will:

  • Drive evolution of data architecture design at Tango Card. Help your colleagues understand their data-driven solution options.
  • Define policies and establish standards for modeling, structuring, naming, describing, securing, and formatting data. Contribute to a data governance framework to guarantee definitions and ensure continuity.
  • Provide guidance in the implementation of data lakes, warehouses, marts, and beyond.
  • Take our data platform to the next level by crafting Enterprise Data Hub, ELT Pipelines, and Reverse-ETL to enable seamless and effective data sharing across the organization.
  • Implement a reference data and master data management strategy.
  • Build and scale data pipelines from our source applications and databases into Snowflake. Administer Snowflake to serve stakeholder and system requirements (raw, transformed; operational, analytical).
  • Validate and test ETL/ELT processes, monitoring performance and tuning as necessary.
  • Perform data modeling across our business systems and beyond to enforce review processes and standards.
  • Extract, scrub, quality control, normalize, and model data, setting and following guidelines.
  • Design, build, and maintain system integrations to automate and scale our data and business systems.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Business Intelligence, Security, and others to inform strategy and design.
  • Complete assigned tickets including functional/technical development, testing, review, UAT, and deployment while communicating progress and blockers.
  • Promote best practices and help guide the team toward continuous improvement.
  • Understand data technology trends and the practical application of existing and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business needs.

To be effective in our Enterprise Data Architect role, you must have:

  • 5+ years in relevant combination of Enterprise/Data Architecture, Business Systems, and/or Solutions Consulting
  • 5+ years designing, building, and scaling data pipelines for data lakes and enterprise ETL/ELT for data warehousing, preferably 2+ years using DBT or similar
  • 5+ years hands-on data modeling experience following standard practices (eg: Kimball methodology)
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with current data platforms & databases (eg: Snowflake, Redshift, or Postgres)
  • Expertise in SQL and other query languages
  • Experience with enterprise applications, such as CRM (eg: Salesforce), ERP (eg: NetSuite), and other systems
  • Background in programming languages and concepts, eg: Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or Java
  • Experience providing mentorship in architectural concepts, design, and implementation
  • Skilled at solving ambiguous problems and thinking both forward and proactively when designing analytic solutions
  • Demonstrated success collaborating across geographically dispersed teams with a diverse set of technical backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain exemplary communication and a customer-focused approach while working across multiple projects
