Position Summary:

The Synthetic Biology group is seeking a talented Scientist to support the engineering and development of novel gene editing technologies using synthetic biology tools to advance programs and proof-of-concept studies. This high impact role will be part of a multidisciplinary and collaborative team with high growth potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, validation, and execution of directed evolution and/or rational engineering campaigns in mammalian and/or bacterial systems
  • Analysis, modelling, and presentation of large screening datasets
  • Creative use of synthetic biology techniques to address program needs
  • Make detailed observations and critically analyze/interpret data, effectively communicating these results to the wider team
  • Cell biology techniques (including flow cytometry and/or immunofluorescence)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or MS plus 4+ years’ experience in biological sciences or relevant field
  • Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture, transfection, and transduction
  • Experience with modern molecular biology techniques (ex. Gibson assembly, Golden Gate) and next generation sequencing (Illumina/PacBio/Nanopore)
  • Attention to detail, critical analysis of data, and ability to creatively troubleshoot complex experiments
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to work within a team across multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing/constructing mutagenesis libraries (random or defined), plus if an RNA target
  • Experience in bioinformatics and programing (Python/R/equivalent)
  • Familiarity/experience with genome editing or gene therapy technologies
  • Experience using laboratory automation
