What Your Days Will Be Like:

The Sr. Manager, Data Warehouse will be part of our centralized Data team at Care.com. Together, we serve multiple departments and business units for their data needs. Here, you will lead a team of data engineers passionate about development and support of Care.com’s production data warehouse systems! The successful candidate will help define and implement a strategy to increase operational stability and optimize incident management processes in support of critical analytics delivery in a growth oriented business.

The ideal candidate will have professional experience as a technical manager of data engineering teams and responsible for production data warehouses at an outstanding company. They will exhibit a solid grasp of data warehouse operational industry standard practices and enjoy leading a multifaceted team in a dynamic and fast paced environment!

What You'll Be Working On:

  • Own the technical design and development activities for implementation of critical operational data warehouse platforms including Vertica, Greenplum, and Snowflake
  • Lead operations and ongoing support for existing DW platforms
  • Establish and maintain best in class practices around service reliability and Incident Management including Root Cause / After Action analysis and documentation
  • Lead a small close team of hard-working engineers
  • Maintain deep and up-to-date knowledge of operational DW platforms
  • We incorporate industry leading practices for security, performance, and data privacy into technical design

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • A background in data engineering with 8+ years building Data Warehouses / Data Lakes
  • 2+ years as a technical people manager designing and deploying production data warehouse solutions
  • Demonstrable ability to maintain performance level in a fast-paced agile environment with changing priorities and timelines
  • Solid grasp and experience in data warehousing, including batch orchestration and planning, ETL optimization, and performance tuning
  • Analytical and conceptual abilities and a problem-solving mentality
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members at various levels of the organization
  • Familiarity with Apache Airflow a plus
