What You’ll Be Doing
As an Analyst / Associate in the Global Markets Central Funding Group (CFG), you will play a critical role in supporting Global Markets (GM) by sourcing alternative funding and contributing to the group’s strategic initiatives. You will collaborate closely with businesses, clients, Sales/Distribution, Risk, Treasury, and other stakeholders to develop and implement funding strategies and trade opportunities. Working as part of a global team based in Toronto, New York, and London, you will help build and manage a robust platform focused on liability management—including collateral management, liquidity, risk management, and technology-driven enhancements.
How You’ll Succeed
You will be accountable for the following core responsibilities, with support and guidance from senior team members:
Assist in the daily monitoring, tracking, and reporting of funding activities, and help with the execution of funding transactions across Global Markets.
Work closely with Treasury to learn about internal funding availability and understand internal and external constraints.
Support collaboration with Securities Lending, Global Credit Finance (GCF), Sales, and Distribution to help expand external funding sources and increase self-financing alternatives. Contribute to building a global, diversified client base of funding liquidity providers (banks, pension funds, asset managers).
Learn to enhance internal funding capabilities and risk policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, including Tax, Accounting, Compliance, Legal, Technology, and others.
Support senior leaders in establishing and refining funding processes, promoting transparent allocation of resources, and developing models for benefit/cost allocation to GM (FTP framework).
Participate in projects to enhance funding capabilities through the Bank’s Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA) and Capital Markets Operating Committee (CMOC).
Promote transparency and collaboration with partners in Capital Markets Risk and Treasury.
Operate within CIBC’s corporate governance standards to help ensure all potential risks are addressed and legal/reputational and shareholder objectives are met.
Contribute to optimizing Tri-Party platform efficiency, support technology requirements for collateral allocation, and help ensure accurate liquidity reporting to Treasury.
Assist in managing ABCP/conduit funding within Treasury’s liquidity framework.
Support the monitoring of Liquidity/Credit Risk Limits for CFG.
Assist in managing cross-currency and interest rate risk.
Help manage SPX Box Trades, ensuring accurate administration, monitoring, and reporting as part of the overall funding portfolio.
Support efforts to mitigate contingent funding risk.
Coordinate with asset management teams to optimize assets for all collateral purposes.
Ensure accurate booking and pricing economics for financing transactions, with guidance from senior team members.
Act as a point of contact for PSG on client financing needs and provide financing axes to Securities Lending/GCF, with support from your team.
Collaborate with teams across Global Markets to improve data analytics, resource reporting, and infrastructure projects, while developing your own analytical and technical skills.
Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in capital markets, funding, financing, or collateral management.
Understanding of financial instruments, including repos, securities lending, and derivatives.
Knowledge of funding markets, strategies, and opportunities across asset classes, such as Prime Brokerage and Structured Credit.
Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills; ability to analyze large and complex data sets.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable liaising with various teams and stakeholders across business lines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, integrity, and accountability.
Strategic thinker with the ability to identify trends and exploit opportunities.
Possesses a risk mindset, encompassing liquidity, credit, and market risk.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $115,000-$150,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
