Analyst - Global Payroll Systems

About the role
We are looking for an adaptable and collaborative Analyst - Global Payroll Systems - to support the ongoing enhancement, testing and operational effectiveness of Rio Tinto's global payroll systems landscape. The selected individual will work closely with technical teams, payroll stakeholders and business users to validate system changes, resolve system-related issues, maintain process documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance payroll service delivery and system performance.
What the role entails
The role is a great opportunity for a professional with experience in payroll systems, SAP Payroll, process testing, validation and stakeholder engagement. Success in this role will require strong analytical capability, attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and functional teams. The successful candidate will help ensure payroll system changes are delivered successfully, business requirements are met, and payroll processes remain compliant, stable and efficient.
Reporting line: Senior Adviser Global Payroll Systems
Scope: Your scope will include (but is not limited to) the following:
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for payroll system changes to ensure business requirements are met and expected outcomes are achieved.
- Identify, document and track defects, issues and system enhancements discovered during testing activities.
- Develop, maintain and update user documentation, including Job Aids, DTPs and process guides.
- Support system enhancements and customization initiatives by collaborating with SAP technical teams and other stakeholders as needed.
- Execute testing and monitoring activities to assess the health of ESPS processes, ensuring compliance with company policies, internal controls and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance, support and knowledge sharing to ESPS team members whenever required.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related system and process issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll processes, system efficiency and overall service delivery.
About yourself
We are looking for candidates with:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Human Resources, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications, preferably related to SAP.
- Hands-on experience with SAP Payroll and Time Management testing and/or configuration processes.
- Strong intellectual curiosity with a passion for learning and adopting new technologies.
- Proven experience in payroll systems testing, validation, reconciliation and reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while consistently maintaining high-quality standards.
- Experience with Canadian and/or US payroll processes would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and end users.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional environments.
- Flexibility and willingness to work across different shifts as required.
