The Opportunity:
The Analyst II plays a critical role in the successful fulfillment and closing of commercial mortgage transactions. This position is responsible for instructing, advancing, and managing mortgage files from the moment a financing offer is accepted through to final closing. Working within established company policies and procedures, the Analyst II ensures all documentation, conditions, and approvals are completed accurately and on time. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of files from commitment to completion.
How you will contribute:
Enter complete and accurate loan details in the internal system using information from the from commitment letter, CMHC conditions, underwriting binder, and legal documentation.
Instruct solicitors and external property insurance consultants in accordance with approved loan terms
Review each file to identify and address special conditions outlined in the commitment letter and, where applicable, CMHC Certificate of Insurance.
Confirm that all supporting documents and conditions precedent have been received, reviewed, and satisfied prior to advancing funds.
Coordinate the closing process with the applicable investor, ensuring that all investor requirements are met and securing final approval
Collaborate with the Origination teams to resolve outstanding conditions credit items and ensure all underwriting conditions are fulfilled.
Establish and maintain the loan file within the paperless system throughout the funding process.
Calculate interest adjustments, repair and tax holdbacks, and monthly tax components with precision
Post monetary advances onto the internal system, ensuring all advances balance.
Conduct a thorough post-funding review of assigned files to prepare them for audit and seamless transfer to the Commercial Asset Management Department. Process construction and progress draw advances on an ongoing basis
Closely monitor the pipeline to ensure all data is kept accurate, preventing pooling issues or financial losses.
Mitigate reputational, monetary, and legal risks in everyday tasks.
Support special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned by senior leadership
This position requires linguistic fluency. Priority will be given to candidates completely fluent in English and French
The experience you need:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, commerce, law, accounting, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate industry, with professional designation such as CCIM considered an asset
Knowledge and understanding of CMHC policies and procedures
Ability to demonstrate initiative, confidence, decisiveness, and resoluteness
Up to date knowledge of commercial real estate trends and economic conditions
Carries out duties with integrity and takes responsibility for actions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated organizational ability with a proven track record of prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
Analytical mindset with a focus on identifying and mitigating risk
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Collaborative team player who is willing to take on additional responsibilities’ when needed
Able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of an assigned portfolio with minimal supervision
Proven ability to foster and maintain relationships
Bilingualism required (French and English) - interactions with English and French speaking customers or partners

Working Environment and Physical Demands Analysis:
Office environment
Periods of high volume with tight timelines
Long periods of stationary position/sitting

Long periods of time in viewing a computer screen
Multi-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer program.
