This role may be based in Toronto or Sudbury, Canada, and travel is be required to support port, warehousing, transportation, site, supplier, and stakeholder activities. As the Analyst II, Commercial, you will support the efficient and effective management of port requirements, rail logistics, transportation services, logistics contracts, inventory visibility, stakeholder coordination, invoice validation, and compliance requirements for Vale products, including final products, intermediate materials, and third-party feed material. This is a hands-on logistics role with broad operational reach. You will work across multiple transportation modes, manage logistics activity through the Port of Trois-Rivières, support Vale’s leased railcar fleet, coordinate storage and service provider performance, and partner with internal teams to help ensure materials move safely, reliably, and cost effectively in alignment with production, business, safety, and regulatory requirements. ## Key Accountabilities: * Coordinate and execute day-to-day logistics activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective movement of Vale products and third-party feed materials across multiple transportation modes. * Manage inventory visibility and material flows across Vale operations, off-site warehouses, and the Port of Trois-Rivières to support business and production requirements. * Oversee rail logistics operations, including the performance, utilization, storage, and maintenance coordination of Vale's leased railcar fleet. * Support and manage port operations by coordinating inbound and outbound material movements, vessel scheduling activities, and stakeholder communication to ensure efficient cargo handling. * Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, contractors, port operators, warehouses, and other logistics service providers to achieve safety, service, and cost objectives. * Administer logistics contracts and service agreements, monitor performance against established KPIs, and identify opportunities for operational and commercial improvement. * Analyze logistics data, transportation costs, and operational performance metrics to support decision-making, continuous improvement initiatives, and business planning activities. * Ensure compliance with transportation, environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements, including Transportation Moisture Limit regulations and audit activities. * Partner with Operations, Technical Services, Finance, Procurement, Marketing, and external stakeholders to support production objectives and long-term business plans. * Support business continuity by identifying logistics risks, developing contingency plans, and responding effectively to operational disruptions or changing business requirements. ## About You Education: * Undergraduate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline is required. * A college diploma combined with strong progressive logistics, procurement, transportation, or relevant operational experience may be considered depending on business requirements. * Supply chain certifications, such as CSCP or CLTD, are considered an asset. Experience: * 5 to 7 years of progressive logistics, procurement, supply chain, transportation, port operations, rail, warehousing, or related experience. * Experience coordinating logistics services across multiple transportation modes, ideally within mining, heavy industry, manufacturing, natural resources, or another complex operating environment. * Demonstrated experience working with carriers, contractors, third-party warehouses, port partners, service providers, and internal operational stakeholders. * Experience supporting contract administration, service provider performance, invoice validation, cost analysis, or logistics process improvement. * Experience using SAP, Microsoft Excel, Word, and other business systems to support logistics, procurement, reporting, and administrative activities. ## Skills * Strong understanding of logistics, procurement, transportation planning, inventory movement, service provider management, and operational coordination. * Ability to prioritize competing demands, decipher complex information, manage multiple timelines, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. * Strong business sense with the ability to leverage formal and informal systems, relationships, data, and internal networks to achieve results. * Demonstrated judgement, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability, including the capacity to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement practical solutions. * Safety mindset with the ability to recognize risks, understand required controls, and support safe execution of logistics activities. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, external service providers, auditors, contractors, carriers, and port representatives. * High degree of ownership, initiative, accountability, attention to detail, professionalism, and follow-through. ## What We Offer You * Competitive compensation including a variable annual incentive plan * Participation in a competitive Defined Contribution Pension package * Comprehensive benefits package (company paid core coverage, health and dental coverage, flex accounts, disability plans and optional insurances) * Leave for all of life’s reasons (vacation, personal, sick, parental) * Work culture dedicated to safety, diversity & inclusion, and career growth * Employee Family Assistance Program * Virtual Healthcare online * Online training and career development opportunities ## Why Sudbury Greater Sudbury is a vibrant city in northeastern Ontario, renowned for its rich mining history and significant role in Canada's mineral production.
