Analyst, Mid-Market Strategy & Operations
We are seeking a highly motivated Analyst to join the Mid-Market Commercial Banking team. Reporting to the Managing Director, Strategy & Operations, this role supports business performance reporting, management information, and strategic analysis across the Mid-Market business.
The Analyst will play an important role in helping the leadership team understand business performance through data-driven insights, reporting, and analytics. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and translating information into meaningful business insights.
Results are achieved through collaboration with business partners across Sales, Structuring, Operations, Finance, Risk.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain regular management reporting, scorecards, dashboards, and performance metrics for business leaders.
- Analyze business, client, and financial performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring attention.
- Support the development of presentations and materials for leadership meetings, business reviews, and planning discussions.
- Assist in gathering, validating, and interpreting data from multiple sources to support business decision-making.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide timely insights on performance against targets.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis and research to support strategic, operational, and business initiatives.
- Help identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality, and management information capabilities.
- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to understand reporting needs and deliver meaningful business insights.
- Support annual planning, forecasting, and business review activities through data analysis and reporting.
- Develop a strong understanding of Mid-Market Commercial Banking products, clients, processes, and performance drivers.
- Stay informed on industry trends, market developments, and competitor activity to support business analysis.
- Participate in special projects and other initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Recent graduate or up to 5 years of relevant experience in analytics, reporting, business intelligence, strategy, consulting, finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or other reporting and visualization tools is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn about commercial banking, business performance management, and strategy.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to take ownership of tasks and deliverables.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
