CPI India Private Limited works to support India’s clean energy mission directed by its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) through clean energy market catalyzing initiatives, such as India Clean Energy Finance (ICEF), the India Distributed Solar Finance initiative (IDSF), and The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (India Chapter); capacity building initiatives, such as the Center for Sustainable Finance (CSF) and Green Indian Financial System (GIFS); and carries out analytical work for transitioning towards a sustainable energy future, such as futureproofing strategies for PSUs. CPI also supports efforts in adaptation with a focus on financing adaptation in India, sustainable finance flows to agriculture, and nature-based solutions.
ABOUT LOW CARBON TRANSITION WORKSTREAM
CPI's Low Carbon Transition workstream analyzes decarbonization pathways across the energy, industry, mobility, and related sectors. The workstream develops a range of analytical tools, financial instruments, and mechanisms to address transition-related challenges and create opportunities for sustainable development. The workstream's objective is to build comprehensive transition linked solutions aligned with the country’s NDC targets, enabled by frameworks structured around the effective use of public funds, international development capital, and carbon finance to help navigate transition-related risks.
About the role
The Analyst/Senior Analyst will provide essential support in planning and executing research initiatives, and in developing sectoral transition frameworks, policy recommendations, and financial mechanisms drawing on methodologies from economics, finance, public policy, and related disciplines.
The incumbent will actively contribute to CPI India's ongoing projects and programs, ideally bringing prior experience in one or two areas of low-carbon transition such as clean power, sustainable mobility and industrial decarbonization.
Support communication and continued engagement with a range of national and international partners across policy, finance, and corporate spheres, as well as with other CPI teams globally.
While the role's primary focus is Low Carbon Transition, the individual will be an integral part of CPI's broader team, with opportunities to collaborate across other programs.
Competencies & Experience
- Master’s degree in economics/engineering/management with a specialization in Renewable Energy, Power Systems, Energy Modelling or a related field
- Professional Experience (Mandatory): Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years (for Analyst) or 6 years (for Senior Analyst) of demonstrable post-qualification professional experience in consulting, advisory, or research roles related to the power and energy sector.
- Relevant experience should include work with power utilities, energy modelling, international organizations, government agencies, and/or multilateral institutions.
- Experience in data analysis using Advanced Excel, Python, R, and Power BI, as well as familiarity with power system modelling tools such as Plexos, PyPSA, OSeMOSYS, or similar platforms, will be considered an added advantage.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in English and at least one Indian language.
- Flexibility, professionalism, and enthusiasm for working as part of a team, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and perform well under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Exposure to or experience working with policy makers, regulators, financiers as well as domestic and international development organizations is preferred.
Position Details
This is a permanent/fixed-term, full-time Analyst/Senior Analyst position based in Delhi/NCR. CPI offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, commensurate with experience.
