That’s where you come in! We’re hiring an Art Director to help shape the future of Magic’s collectible card experiences across Booster Fun and Secret Lair. This role sits within our established Collectibility Team, a group dedicated to crafting the most visually compelling, desirable, and unexpected versions of Magic cards. You’ll help bring alternate treatments of main set cards to life – Creating pieces that players don’t just use, but collect and treasure. This is a role for a creative leader who thrives in both blue-sky ideation and hands-on execution. You’ll collaborate closely with senior art directors and cross-functional partners to develop concepts, define visual direction, and deliver standout collectible cards across multiple product lines. Your work will be seen, played, and collected by millions of fans around the world. The ideal candidate is a culturally attuned visual thinker and continuous learner, with experience spanning fantasy illustration, graphic-forward design, and emerging visual trends. You’re excited by collaboration, energized by experimentation, and driven to push what Magic can look like.   What You’ll Do: <ul> <li>Commission Artwork | Source and manage a global network of freelance artists, providing clear, iterative direction while building strong, lasting relationships.</li> <li>Lead Visual Development | Help define and execute the creative direction for Booster Fun, Universes Beyond, and Secret Lair releases in partnership with senior art directors.</li> <li>Drive Collectibility | Create visually striking, highly desirable alternate card treatments that elevate the Magic brand and excite collectors.</li> <li>Concept & Brainstorm | Contribute bold visual ideas in early concept development, helping shape product vision through collaborative ideation.</li> <li>Ensure Quality | Review and approve final artwork to meet Magic’s standards for excellence, consistency, and production specifications.</li> <li>Collaborate Cross-Functionally | Partner with designers, producers, editors, and external IP holders to bring cohesive products to life.</li> <li>Translate IPs | Work with internal teams and external partners to authentically integrate Magic IP and Universes Beyond worlds into collectible formats.</li> </ul>   What You’ll Bring: <ul> <li>Art Direction Experience | 2+ years in commercial art direction, visual development, or a related field.</li> <li>Strong Portfolio | Demonstrated experience commissioning and directing illustration across styles, genres, or formats.</li> <li>Visual Storytelling | Excellent taste and the ability to curate and guide compelling visuals across a wide range of aesthetics.</li> <li>Artist Advocacy | A passion for discovering and championing diverse artistic voices through intentional commissioning.</li> <li>Cultural Awareness | Ability to translate audience tastes, trends, and cultural signals into resonant visual ideas.</li> <li>Clear Communication | Thoughtful, respectful feedback skills paired with strong organization and attention to detail.</li> <li>Collaborative Mindset | Comfort working within fast-paced, team-based workflows.</li> <li>Technical Skills | Fluency in Adobe Photoshop; proficiency in Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Office.</li> <li>Creative Spirit | Curiosity, boldness, and a willingness to experiment—balanced with strong creative judgment.</li> </ul>   We are an Equal Opportunity Employer Wizards of the Coast is committed to equality of opportunity in all aspects of employment.
