Role Overview:
This role owns IT asset and configuration management across Planet’s digital workplace - hardware and software assets, the CMDB, and software licensing. Day to day, you will keep the CMDB accurate, run software asset management and audits with Certero, and maintain configuration data in Jira / Atlassian to support compliance, cost control, and reliable change.
What you will do:
CMDB ownership — Own and maintain the configuration management database (CMDB) - configuration items, relationships, and data quality.
Hardware asset lifecycle — Manage the hardware asset lifecycle from procurement to disposal, including stock, moves, and refresh.
Software asset management — Run SAM and the effective licence position with Certero - reconciliation, entitlement, and optimisation.
Audits & compliance — Prepare for and support software audits and true-ups; ensure licence compliance and reduce risk.
Configuration management — Maintain configuration and asset data in Jira / Atlassian; integrate with ITSM and discovery.
Discovery & reconciliation — Use discovery and inventory tooling to keep asset data complete and reconciled.
Cost & optimisation — Identify licence and hardware savings and support budgeting and renewals.
Reporting — Produce asset, configuration, and compliance reporting for the team and stakeholders.
Governance — Maintain asset and configuration standards, policies, and process in a PCI DSS environment.
Success Measures
An accurate, trusted CMDB and a defensible software licence position - audits passed, compliance risk reduced, and measurable licence and hardware cost savings.
Who you are:
Proven IT asset and configuration management experience (hardware and software).
Strong CMDB ownership and data-quality management.
Software asset management and licensing expertise, ideally with Certero.
Experience preparing for and supporting software audits and vendor true-ups.
Hands-on with Jira / Atlassian for configuration and asset data.
Understanding of discovery and inventory tooling and reconciliation.
Strong analytical and reporting skills (Excel / BI) and attention to detail.
Experience in a regulated, ITIL change- and configuration-controlled environment.
ITIL and/or IAITAM (CHAMP / CSAM) certification desirable.
