This position is eligible for teleworking, which is currently 2 days per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

About Us:
The MTA transportation network has a very large system and infrastructure for financial, business, automated train, transportation, power, and physical security. The MTA IT Department is centrally responsible for providing a full range of Information and Operational Technology services to the MTA agencies and administrative units through its operating and support units. These services are provided on a 24/7/365 basis to support the MTA organization and its ridership.
MTA IT’s Portfolio and Program Management job family comprises empowered, multi-functional individuals who focus on overseeing product management and development programs within the organization, from strategy to delivery. These individuals are also responsible for managing all projects and programs to ensure that transportation is effective and secure, and back-end information systems are operational to support MTA goals and priorities.
Summary:
Under direct supervision, this role manages specific components and assigned tasks within the product management process. This role assists with the development of user stories. This role may assist with the analysis of business operations to identify process improvement opportunities and the modeling of current and desired scenarios using defined models, methods, and tools. This role maintains and runs reports to evaluate value realization against product, risk management, service, or project goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Under direct supervision, manages specific components and assigned tasks within the product management and/or service development process.
- Translates business requirements to technical requirements for developers to understand.
- Assists with the development of user stories with traceability to the source.
- May assist with the analysis of business operations to identify process improvement opportunities, and the modeling of current and desired scenarios using defined models, methods, and tools.
- Maintains and runs reports to evaluate value realization against product, risk management, service, or project goals and objectives.
- Assists the testing team with the development of test cases based on the requirements.
- Assists with the delivery and collection of organizational assessments.
- Participates in product demos and testing, and attends industry presentations.
- Assists or performs product demonstrations.
- Supports the development of service/product descriptions and helps maintain service/product catalogs and documentation.
- Assists with the execution of resourcing activities in collaboration with delivery team managers.
- Research market trends and customer behavior that will help contribute to feature development and operations improvements.
- Supports the development of customer journey maps and product innovation roadmaps.
- Collaborates closely with product & operations management, developers, and designers to implement product enhancements based on business requirements.
- Actively participates in agile ceremonies.
- Assists with the development of effective reports and documents to communicate findings and analysis to the team and business stakeholders.
- Works closely and directly with design and engineering teams to deliver solutions that have demonstrable and measurable impact.
- Engages closely with the engineering team to help determine the best technical implementation methods to achieve our customer and business objectives.
- Partners with engineering, design, data, lifecycle, and member support teams to support building software collaboratively and inclusively.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Observes the work performed by the contractor.
- Addresses performance issues with the contractor when possible.
- Escalates issues to other parties as needed.
- Abides by MTA attendance expectations and requirements by attending regularly and reliably.
- Provides technical advice to project teams and mentors less experienced staff to foster talent development.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience: 1 year
- Prefer at least one certification in the current platform/domain/technical skills
Technical Skills:
- Expert experience with common developer productivity tools like Jira, Confluence, etc.
- Capable of understanding technical concepts.
