Billing & Collections Officer
Job Description
As a Billing & Collections Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the efficient and accurate delivery of Accounts Receivable and Billing functions across Ramsay’s national hospital network. Working within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will help ensure billing processes are streamlined, compliant and delivered with a high level of customer service to patients, doctors and key stakeholders.
The Role
As part of the Billing Hub team, you will contribute to the centralisation and optimisation of billing operations, supporting the timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments and account enquiries across multiple hospital departments.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and issuing invoices in line with company policies and procedures
- Liaising with Health Funds, Private Insurers, Medicare and DVA regarding billing and account matters
- Monitoring Accounts Receivable and following up outstanding payments
- Managing customer account enquiries and providing exceptional service to patients and stakeholders
- Maintaining accurate billing, collection and account records
- Communicating with doctors, specialists and patients regarding billing queries and account management
- Coordinating refunds and debt collection activities for allocated accounts
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to managing billing and collections processes within a healthcare environment.
You will also demonstrate:
- Previous experience within a medical practice, hospital billing or healthcare administration environment
- Experience working with Private Health Funds and medical billing processes
- Confidence using medical billing and patient administration systems such as Meditech and/or Genie
- Strong computer literacy across Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook and Teams
- A sound understanding of medical terminology and anatomy
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of Meditech patient management systems or similar medical billing software
- Experience using Genie, Meditech or other patient administration systems within a healthcare setting
