Buildern is the #1 Construction Management Platform that helps residential and commercial builders manage projects from estimating to financials in one place. Our platform gives construction teams the tools they need to plan, collaborate, and deliver projects with confidence.

We’re looking for an experienced Business Analyst to help transform business needs into clear, detailed, and implementation-ready requirements. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Design, QA, Customer Success, Sales, and customers to ensure business problems are fully understood, solutions are well designed, and engineering teams have everything they need to deliver high-quality software.

This is not a documentation-only role. You’ll help shape solutions, challenge assumptions, think through complex business scenarios, identify edge cases, and ensure every feature is fully defined before development begins.

What You’ll Do

Requirements & Analysis

  • Gather and analyze business requirements from Product, Customer Success, Sales, Support, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct customer interviews and discovery sessions to understand business processes, workflows, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, usability, and customer experience.
  • Research competitor products and industry best practices to help shape product improvements.
  • Challenge assumptions and recommend simpler, more effective solutions where appropriate.

Product Delivery

  • Own the quality and completeness of business requirements, ensuring engineering teams receive implementation-ready specifications before development begins.
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional requirements, user stories, business rules, workflows, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Document current and future-state business processes using diagrams, process flows, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, edge cases, exceptions, and process gaps early in the planning process.
  • Lead backlog refinement for assigned initiatives and ensure stories are ready before sprint planning.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Design, and QA throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Clarify requirements during implementation and help resolve functional questions raised by engineering.
  • Validate completed features to ensure they solve the original business problem and meet documented requirements before release.

Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously improve documentation standards, requirement quality, and business analysis practices.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve research, analysis, documentation, and day-to-day productivity.
  • Help build a culture of clear thinking, high-quality requirements, and efficient product delivery.

What You’ll Bring

  • 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, Systems Analyst, Product Owner, or similar role within a B2B SaaS company.
  • Proven experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and functional requirements for software products.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to understand how changes in one area impact a complex software platform.
  • Experience creating user stories, business process diagrams, workflows, use cases, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development processes.
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, Figma, Lucidchart, Miro, or similar collaboration tools.
  • Regular user of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, or similar to improve productivity and documentation.
  • Curiosity, ownership, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with ERP, accounting, financial management, procurement, estimating, or project management software.
  • Experience in the construction technology industry.
  • Experience with SQL or basic data analysis.
  • Experience conducting usability testing or customer research.
  • Experience working in a startup or scale-up environment.
  • Experience working on products with complex workflows, permissions, integrations, or financial systems.

Success in This Role

Within your first 12 months, you will:

  • Build a deep understanding of Buildern’s platform, customers, and construction workflows.
  • Produce consistently high-quality, implementation-ready requirements that enable engineering teams to deliver efficiently with minimal clarification.
  • Improve requirement quality, reduce ambiguity, and help accelerate product delivery.
  • Build strong relationships across Product, Engineering, Design, QA, Customer Success, and Sales.
  • Help deliver software that solves real customer problems and improves construction workflows.
  • Contribute to improving Buildern’s product development process and documentation standards.
