What We're Looking For:

Business analysts act as advisors to the business and support sound decision making through the use of data driven insights, coupled with strong business acumen. They work with stakeholders to understand business challenges, design queries and reports to understand root cause, and advise and consult with leadership to implement solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working directly with business stakeholders, designs a limited variety of moderately complex reports using data from one or multiple systems to specifications. Delivers report in format to aid business stakeholder interpretation (pivot tables, graphs, etc.)
• Uses data methodologies and business acumen to generate recommendations to moderately complex problems to review with supervisor / senior analyst
• Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences
• Designs and develops analytical solutions across multiple systems
• Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of KPIs, team roles, and business processes in assigned area
• Demonstrates understanding of systems architecture and data flow in assigned functional organization
• Works with data transformation tools to design new datasets for BI models of moderate complexity
• Creates and optimizes queries and data transformations using cloud data warehouse solutions  / data transformation tools
• Develops dashboards and models using data visualization platforms
• Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
• Troubleshoots effectively and identifies and implements process improvements
• Maintains data quality and governance is assigned systems
• Works independently with limited supervision

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Can synthesize complex data into themes, stories and recommendations
• Some systems knowledge in assigned functional area
• Beginner Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Can present data in a visually compelling format to help business stakeholders understand the issues, possibilities and recommendations
• Beginner presentation skills required. Some formal training in public speaking / presentation skills preferred
• Strong analytical mindset / capability
• Experience translating business needs into actionable insights
• Stakeholder management skills
• Ability to communicate complex data to non-technical audiences
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Experience developing new dashboards and data models in data visualization platforms
• Experience creating and modifying data transformations
• Can write / optimize SQL queries

Minimum Education or Equivalent:

• Bachelors Degree. In lieu of a degree, candidates with 6+ years of relevant experience and a demonstrated progression of responsibilities will be considered if they have experience translating business needs into analytical requirements and proficiency in developing dashboards and data models in data visualization platforms.
