Business Data Analyst (Contractual)
Role Overview
Weāre looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst to transform complex commercial and operational data into clear, actionable insights. In this role, youāll work hands-on with data, leveraging advanced Excel skills to perform calculations, build models, and support strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating large datasets, designing quantitative analyses, and communicating key findings effectively. Flexibility to work within European CET business hours is preferable.
Key Responsibilities
ā¢Perform detailed quantitative analyses on large datasets (e.g., sales, performance, operational or market data) using advanced Excel techniques.
ā¢Build, maintain, and enhance Excel models and calculators (e.g., forecasting tools, performance trackers, scenario and sensitivity models, ROI calculators).
ā¢Clean, validate, and reconcile data from multiple sources, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and traceability of all numbers and formulas.
ā¢Design clear tables, charts, and summary views in Excel and PowerPoint to communicate analytical findings and key metrics to internal stakeholders.
ā¢Document calculation logic, key assumptions, and data sources so that models are transparent, auditable, and easy to reuse.
ā¢Run ad-hoc analyses on short timelines, structuring problems, selecting appropriate methods, and delivering concise numeric answers.
ā¢Continuously improve existing files by optimizing formulas, simplifying structures, improving performance, and standardizing formats and naming conventions.
⢠This role will support Europe counterparts and may need to observe European time zone (mid shift) from time to time.
Skills and Experience
ā¢Strong analytical and numerical skills, with substantial hands-on experience working with large datasets in Excel on a daily basis.
ā¢Proficiency with advanced Excel features, including nested formulas, lookup/indexing functions, pivot tables, conditional logic, error handling, and what-if or scenario analysis; basic VBA/macro skills are a plus.
ā¢Proven experience in a data-driven role (e.g., business analyst, data analyst, financial analyst or commercial analyst), ideally in a data-rich environment such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, or technology.
ā¢High attention to detail, with a rigorous approach to checking formulas, reconciling numbers, and documenting changes.
ā¢Ability to translate business questions into structured analytical approaches and to clearly explain model logic and conclusions to non-technical colleagues.
Education and Tools
ā¢Bachelorās degree in a quantitative, business, or related field (e.g., economics, engineering, mathematics, mathematics, statistics, business administration).
ā¢Advanced Excel skills required; familiarity with additional analytical tools (e.g., Power BI/Tableau, SQL, or statistical tools) is an advantage but not the primary focus of the role.
