Business Intelligence Analyst – Scintilla

Job Summary

The Business Intelligence Analyst – Scintilla supports Kontoor’s Analytics & Reporting and Commercial Insights agenda by transforming retail, POS, inventory, assortment, supply chain, and shopper/category data into clear insights that improve business decisions and enable growth. This role will be a key analytical partner for Scintilla-related reporting and insight development, helping convert complex data into dashboards, reports, models, and executive-ready narratives for Sales, Category Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, and leadership stakeholders.

The role requires strong technical capability  paired with commercial curiosity and the ability to explain what changed, why it changed, and what actions the business should take next. The analyst mines, processes, validates, and analyzes data using KPIs, business results, retailer/customer data, industry sources, competitor intelligence, and internal performance information. The analyst works both independently and collaboratively, contributes to moderately complex projects, supports department applications, and serves as a liaison between business teams and technology partners.

Key Responsibilities

Scintilla / Retail Analytics & Insight Generation

  • Analyze Scintilla and related retailer datasets, including POS, inventory, sell-through, shipments, assortment, distribution, pricing, promotions, and category performance.
  • Turn data into actionable insights that support sales growth, category strategy, assortment productivity, retail execution, and customer planning.
  • Identify root causes of changes in revenue, market share, velocity, distribution, inventory health, and other key performance indicators.
  • Support competitive, customer, and category analyses by combining retailer data, industry sources, consumer/shopper context, and internal business performance.

Dashboarding, Reporting & Data Visualization

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain dashboards, infographics, reports, data files, and models using relevant tools and data sets.
  • Translate reporting outputs into clear business narratives for cross-functional teams and leadership audiences.
  • Bring forward innovative reporting and visualization approaches that improve speed, usability, and decision quality.

Data Management, Modeling & Governance

  • Support data load management, ETL processes, multi-dimensional data modeling, validation, and governance for Scintilla and related reporting environments.
  • Proactively diagnose data integrity issues, communication gaps, process inefficiencies, and reporting inconsistencies.
  • Document data flows, metric definitions, assumptions, refresh processes, and analytical methodologies.
  • Partner with IT and technical support teams to troubleshoot, enhance, and scale reporting systems and department applications.

Business Partnership, Training & Support

  • Partner with Sales, Category Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Analytics, and leadership stakeholders to define business questions and convert them into structured analytical approaches.
  • Support customer-facing and internal storytelling with credible, data-backed recommendations, particularly where Scintilla insights inform retailer engagement.
  • Train and support end users through one-on-one coaching, group sessions, documentation, testing, and validation.
  • Manage multiple projects of varying complexity, balancing urgency, accuracy, business value, and stakeholder needs.

Experience

  • Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Data mining, data warehousing, data collection, data summarization, and data validation
  • ETL software or equivalent data preparation / transformation processes
  • SQL, DAX, Python, R, or equivalent query / scripting / analytical languages
  • Retailer data environments such as Scintilla, Retail Link / Luminate, Vendor Central, Workbench, SPS Commerce, POL, or equivalent retail portals
  • Retail, CPG, apparel, category management, commercial analytics, supply chain analytics, or consumer/shopper insights
  • Presentation development and delivery to groups of varying sizes and multiple leadership levels

Business and Analytical Skills

  • Retail math and accounting fundamentals, including sales, margin, inventory, sell-through, velocity, distribution, and productivity metrics.
  • Commercial sales, category management, customer planning, and supply chain metrics.
  • Advanced data visualization and dashboard design with ability to simplify complex information.
  • Ability to combine reporting with subject matter expertise to deliver coherent, insightful takeaways and practical recommendations.
  • Strong business storytelling: ability to explain what changed, why it changed, and what action should be taken.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Information Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or similar field required.
  • Master’s degree may be considered in lieu of some experience requirements.
  • Scintilla experience strongly preferred

Skills

  • Prior Scintilla Experience strongly preferred, though will consider strong business and data analytics skills also.
  • Technical skills and desire for continued advancement in BI, analytics, data visualization, and automation.
  • Critical and analytical thinking with a resolution mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation development and delivery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution with minimal supervision.

  • Advanced data visualization and dashboard development experience.

  • Retail analytics fluency, including POS, inventory, assortment, share, pricing/promotion, customer, and category performance.
  • Project/time management with ability to prioritize work based on business value and urgency.
  • Training, documentation, testing, validation, and end-user support capability.
