Job Description

What it's all about -

Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA) is the consulting arm of Visa, and drives tangible, impactful results for clients. Drawing on our expertise in consulting, data analytics, technology, payments and economics, VCA solves the most strategic problems for our clients.  VCA's core client segments include issuers, acquirers, merchants, fintechs, payment enablers and governments.

We are looking for a Consulting Analyst whose primary strength is in AI agentic systems—someone with genuine, hands-on experience building, testing, and deploying agentic workflows—and who is eager to apply that expertise within the payments and financial services industry. This is not a pure AI engineering role, nor is it a traditional consulting analyst position. It is a hybrid, execution-focused role where AI capability complemented by an interest in and aptitude for financial services are the leading qualifications.

The ideal candidate is technically capable and intellectually curious: someone who can design a prompt architecture for an agent that automates a bank’s operational workflow, run structured evaluations to measure quality and reliability, and present findings clearly to both technical and business stakeholders. You bring strong AI foundations and are excited about developing domain expertise in payments and financial services—one of the most complex, regulated, and high-impact sectors for agentic AI deployment.

What You Will Do:

  • AI Agentic System Development & Testing

  • Client Engagement & Delivery

  • Strategy Support & Knowledge Building

Why This Role:

  • Build, iterate, and refine agentic workflows using prompt engineering, RAG/context construction, tool integration, memory management, and guardrail configuration—working within frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, OpenAI Agents SDK, Anthropic Agent SDK .

  • Design and execute structured evaluation cycles: create test cases, analyze agent outputs for factuality, format compliance, and task completion, and document failure modes with actionable improvement recommendations.

  • Maintain and evolve prompt libraries, evaluation datasets, and experimentation logs—contributing to the team’s systematic approach to prompt versioning, A/B testing, and performance tracking.

  • Monitor the agentic AI landscape—tracking new models, frameworks, protocols (Visa TAP, OpenAI/Stripe ACP, Google AP2), and techniques—and synthesize findings into internal briefings and knowledge-sharing materials.

  • Prototype and demonstrate new agent capabilities, translating emerging AI techniques into practical solutions that address real client challenges.

  • Support the execution of AI agentic workflow engagements for Visa’s financial institution and merchant clients across Southern Europe, contributing to workstreams from discovery and process mapping through agent development, testing, and deployment.

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify client processes suited for agentization—mapping document flows, system integration points, decision trees, and existing automation gaps across payments, banking operations, and financial services workflows.

  • Assist in the design of hybrid AI-human operating models, documenting task routing logic, escalation paths, and human oversight requirements for regulatory-sensitive processes.

  • Help translate financial services domain requirements—such as compliance rules, authorization flows, customer onboarding processes, and settlement logic—into agent specifications, evaluation criteria, and structured system prompts.

  • Prepare client-facing deliverables including process assessments, technical documentation, and progress reports, ensuring quality and consistency with VCA standards.

  • Contribute to go-to-market activities for the AI Agentic Workflows and Agentic Commerce service lines, including research for client workshops, preparation of capability demonstrations, and drafting of sales materials.

  • Support the development of client proposals by conducting market research, competitive analysis, and benchmarking exercises that feed into ROI projections and implementation plans.

  • Help build the service line’s intellectual capital: contribute to frameworks, playbooks, reusable prompt templates, evaluation benchmarks, and case study documentation.

  • Participate in client meetings and workshops alongside senior team members, taking ownership of specific technical analysis workstreams or agent demonstration components.

  • Apply your AI expertise to one of the most complex and high-impact sectors for agentic deployment—developing rare, differentiated skills at the intersection of AI and financial services.

  • Work alongside senior leaders and directly with C-level executives at Europe’s leading financial institutions on real, transformative engagements.

  • Access Visa’s unmatched payments data, global subject matter experts, and proprietary technology platforms—resources unavailable anywhere else.

  • Accelerate your domain expertise through hands-on project work, structured mentoring from payments and AI specialists, and continuous learning opportunities.

  • Contribute to defining the playbook for an entirely new consulting discipline, with direct visibility to Visa’s senior leadership.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • AI Agentic Workflows & Applied AI (Primary)
  • Financial Services & Payments Knowledge (Complementary)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1–2+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, or deploying AI-powered agentic workflows, LLM-based applications, or applied AI solutions in a professional or advanced academic setting.
  • Proficiency with at least one agentic framework or platform: LangGraph, LangChain, OpenAI Agents SDK, Claude Agent SDK, Microsoft Copilot Studio, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of when to apply prompt engineering vs. RAG vs. fine-tuning, and awareness of trade-offs around latency, cost, and output quality.
  • Working knowledge of Python or JavaScript for prototyping, experimentation, or interfacing with AI APIs. Full software development skills are not required, but comfort writing and reading code is expected.
  • professional exposure to financial services, payments, banking, insurance, or fintech—in a consulting, analytical, operational, product, or technology role. Candidates with strong AI credentials and a demonstrated interest in financial services will also be considered.
  • Foundational understanding of financial services concepts: how banks, card networks, payment processors, or fintechs operate; basic awareness of regulatory environments (PSD2, AML/KYC, data protection).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a structured approach to ambiguous problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Spanish; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Clear and professional presentation skills—comfortable preparing and contributing to deliverables for senior client audiences.
  • Awareness of the emerging agentic commerce protocol landscape: Visa TAP, Mastercard Agent Pay, OpenAI/Stripe ACP, Google AP2, and related standards.
  • Contributions to the AI community—through personal projects, open-source contributions, hackathons, published articles, or relevant certifications—that demonstrate initiative and depth beyond formal job requirements.
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI deployment considerations: security, compliance, data privacy, and integration with existing IT infrastructure.
  • Strong practical knowledge of the AI agentic stack, including:
  • Prompt engineering: ability to write, test, and systematically iterate on structured prompts for multi-step agent tasks; understanding of few-shot learning, chain-of-thought, instruction design, and prompt versioning.
  • RAG & context construction: working familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, including document chunking, embedding models, vector search, and hybrid retrieval strategies.
  • Agent orchestration: exposure to agent frameworks and patterns (tool calling, sequential/parallel task execution, ReAct-style reasoning, error handling and correction loops).
  • Evaluation & guardrails: experience running structured evaluations of AI outputs—measuring accuracy, relevance, format compliance, and identifying failure patterns. Awareness of AI-as-a-judge and human-in-the-loop review methods.
  • AI interfaces: familiarity with how end users interact with AI applications (chatbots, copilots, browser extensions, agent-based tools) and the design considerations involved.
