Clinical Midwifery Specialist
Job Description
Joondalup Health Campus has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Midwife to join our Midwifery team as a Clinical Midwifery Specialist on a permanent part-time basis (64hrs/fortnight). This role will be focused in our Public Birth Suite.
This position provides clinical leadership and support within the Birth Suite, with a strong focus on delivering safe, evidence-based, and woman-centred care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The Birth Suite CMS plays a key role in coordinating the public Birth Suite, supporting staff, promoting clinical excellence, and overseeing patient flow and bed management. The role also contributes to service improvement initiatives through quality activities such as audits, RiskMan investigations, and concise reviews of clinical incidents.
Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant will provide expert clinical guidance, support professional development alongside the SSDM team, and help foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

You will demonstrate excellent clinical and interpersonal skills and have a collaborative approach to care. You are a passionate advocate for maternity care and thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
Essential Criteria:
- Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA
- Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience as a Registered Midwife
- FSEP 3 must be maintained
- Extensive birth suite experience, including experience managing obstetric emergencies and supporting complex maternity care presentations.
- Competent in K2 auditing and reporting functions
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in clinical leadership, shift coordination, and patient flow management within maternity services (highly desirable)
- IV Cannulation and venepuncture (highly desirable)
- Proven ability to support and mentor junior staff, students, and graduate midwives (highly desirable)
