Location Details:

This position can work remotely from a home office (anywhere in the state of Michigan) for day-to-day operations. Will travel to the Fremont, MI office on occasion.

Position Schedule / Shift:

Monday- Thursday 8am-5pm. Friday 8am-4:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

Reviews and analyzes internal/external investigations, inspections and/or statuses in order to ensure rating/premium value integrity to ensure meeting underwriting guidelines and corporate goals.  Reviews information, initiates policy adjustments for commercial product line(s) and tabulates results.  Compares the rating characteristics of specific accounts and formulates a course of action to ensure compliance with corporate underwriting rules and procedures.  Provides advanced technical and product information in response to questions/inquiries.  Attends training as required.

Corresponds and maintains professional relationships with agents and producers along with the ability to explain reasons for policy adjustments.  Formulates a course of action to comply with commercial lines underwriting rules and procedures and compares rating characteristics for specific accounts to ensure compliance with existing eligibility and rating rules.  Updates rating criteria on affected policies.  May complete activity sheets to be used in compiling monthly reports and perform calculations of premiums recovered to ascertain impact of inappropriate ratings on company revenues.

Underwrites and processes renewals and endorsements within commercial underwriting analyst authority level. Work with underwriter, senior underwriter and/or supervisor if outside authority level.

Qualifications:

Required

Education (include minimum education and any licensing/certifications):

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • two years insurance experience

  • reviewing claims for possible changes in rating or acceptability status
  • analyzing insurance needs and determining appropriate levels of coverage
  • working with various commercial insurance product lines
  • investigating and validating proper rating

Knowledge and Skills:

  • company underwriting policies, procedures and practices
  • inspection techniques related to commercial insurance
  • communicating effectively with others
  • presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • access and work with rate account information on computer terminal
  • review new or renewal commercial insurance accounts to determine appropriate rating classifications
  • work within a team environment

Preferred

  • College level coursework in Business Administration or a related field
  • CPCU, IIA, CIC or other insurance related coursework.

Work Environment:

This position is currently able to work remotely from a home office location for day-to-day operations unless occasional travel for meetings, collaborative activities, or team building activities is specified by leadership. This is subject to change based on amendments and/or modifications to the ACG Flex Work policy.

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $23.10 - $25.00 with annual bonus potential, based on performance.

Time Off & Leave

  • Paid Time Off (PTO): Accrual-based, increases with tenure, eligible at 90 days of employment. Full-time new employees will receive up to 12 PTO days annually; accrual based on start date and may include additional PTO based on role and/or state & local requirements. Part-time employee PTO hours are calculated based upon the standard weekly hours the employee is scheduled to work and will accrue at a minimum of 3 hours per month.
  • Paid Holidays: Full-time employees are eligible for 10 company-paid holidays annually, in addition to 1 mental health day, 2 floating holidays and 1 volunteer day. Holidays vary by business unit schedules. Part-time employees are eligible for 8 company-paid holidays annually, in addition to 1 mental health day and 2 floating holidays. Holidays vary by business unit schedules.
  • Paid leave programs, including parental, bereavement, jury duty, and military leave.
