This role serves as a key connective tissue between local community stakeholders — including elected officials, school systems, and civic organizations — internal teams across the organization, partner organizations and industry advocacy groups. The Community Engagement Manager will serve as a visible, trusted representative of EdgeConneX in local communities, building long-term relationships that support responsible data center development. In addition to community engagement leadership, this position provides support across marketing, communications, media relations, and internal communications workstreams. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Marketing &amp; Communications. While the position can be remote, there could be upwards of 30% travel associated with this role, mostly domestically within the U.S.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Primary Responsibilities</strong></p> <p><em><strong>Community Engagement Coordination</strong></em></p> <ul> <li>Drive and coordinate community engagement initiatives and execution across EdgeConneX markets under development, with a majority of focus on North America; serve as a proactive, organized point of coordination ensuring consistent community presence and relationship-building in each market.</li> <li>Build and maintain trust-based relationships with local external stakeholders in active and pipeline markets, including elected officials, municipal staff, school administrators, neighborhood associations, community entities, youth organizations, and other civic leaders; represent EdgeConneX at community and education events.</li> <li>Coordinate with internal stakeholders across Real Estate, Development, Legal, Public Affairs, and Marketing teams to align community engagement activities with project timelines and corporate priorities.</li> <li>Manage relationships and coordinate activities with partner organizations, as well as industry advocacy organizations; track engagement calendars, deliverables, and membership commitments.</li> <li>Develop and execute market-specific community engagement plans for new and emerging EdgeConneX development markets, identifying key stakeholders, community concerns, and partnership opportunities in advance of and throughout the development process.</li> <li>Monitor community sentiment and emerging concerns in markets where EdgeConneX has active or pending development projects; flag early signals of opposition or support and recommend proactive engagement strategies.</li> <li>Maintain a master community engagement tracker across all markets, documenting stakeholder contacts, meeting history, commitments made, and follow-up items to ensure accountability and continuity.</li> <li>Track inbound partnership inquiries and outreach from nonprofits and community organizations; conduct initial response and information gathering, maintain a pipeline log, and monitor incoming leads from the website and email aliases for dissemination to internal stakeholders.</li> <li>Organize and maintain shared folders in SharePoint/Teams for community engagement, media, and awards workstreams; ensure materials are version-controlled, clearly named, and accessible to relevant team members; archive completed projects and campaign materials for institutional reference.</li> </ul> <p><em><strong>Education &amp; Workforce Development Liaison</strong></em></p> <ul> <li>Serve as an EdgeConneX liaison to K–12 schools in markets where the company operates or is developing; and represent EdgeConneX at STEM school events.</li> <li>Capture and share community and education engagement stories — photos, testimonials, outcomes — for use in internal and external communications, social media, award nominations, etc.</li> </ul> <p><em><strong>Media Monitoring &amp; Intelligence</strong></em></p> <ul> <li>Organize media coverage and social listening leveraging existing media tools.</li> <li>Maintain a media inquiry log and support press release distribution logistics; track post-release coverage and compile placement summaries</li> </ul> <p><em><strong>Award Nominations &amp; Industry Recognition</strong></em></p> <ul> <li>Research and maintain a calendar of relevant industry, sustainability, workplace, and leadership award opportunities; track deadlines, eligibility requirements, and entry fees, flagging upcoming deadlines at least 6–8 weeks in advance and presenting a tiered quarterly recommendation list.</li> <li>Draft award nomination narratives and outlines for company-level and executive-level submissions, gathering supporting data, quotes, and metrics from relevant internal teams; manage end-to-end submission logistics including account creation, form completion, document uploads, and confirmation of receipt.</li> </ul> <p><em><strong>Content Calendar &amp; Communications Support</strong></em></p> <ul> <li>Assist with day-to-day maintenance of the EdgeConneX communications content calendar, tracking planned announcements, blog posts, social content, press releases, award submissions, events, and partner activations.</li> <li>Support press release distribution logistics, maintain media list segments, track post-release coverage, and compile placement summaries within 48 hours of distribution.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong communications, both written and verbal, in leading teams and coordinating with peers and other disciplines on driving projects/issues to closure</li> <li>Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables</li> <li>Superb ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities</li> <li>Superb ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from peers</li> <li>Strong and effective team player in working with various disciplines and peer groups; can cover all gamut of tasks required to ‘getting a job done’</li> <li>Strong attention to detail</li> </ul> <p><strong>Experience / Education Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>5+ years of experience in community affairs, community relations or a related field; experience coordinating across multiple geographies or markets strongly preferred</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Public Relations, or a related discipline</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse community stakeholders including government officials, school, nonprofit leaders, and civic organizations</li> <li>Experience engaging with industry advocacy organizations and/or managing nonprofit or community partner relationships</li> <li>Proficiency with tools such as Meltwater, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media platforms (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook)</li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion"><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">EdgeConneX believes inclusion – of thought, backgrounds and experiences – affects all that we do, from our employees to the solutions we deliver.
