Job Description Summary
Expands the use of analytics to support decision making across Wake Forest's athletics programs, with a primary focus on assisting the baseball program.This position is not eligible for sponsorship of non-immigrant or immigrant visa status through Wake Forest University. Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Support baseball operations through baseball-related data analytics, including database maintenance, research, reporting, and basic modeling projects.
- Assist with coordinating the student baseball analytics team, helping maintain connections with Wake Forest academic programs and ensuring compliance with university guidelines for student contributors.
- Conduct routine data analysis and generate standard reports to support day-to-day decision-making for the baseball program.
- Help prepare data-driven reports and analysis to support the baseball coaching staff in areas such as game strategy, roster evaluation, and player development.
- Assist with organizing and presenting analytics findings to the baseball coaching staff.
- Support the collection, organization, and integration of data from baseball technologies, including but not limited to Trackman, KinaTrax, and TruMedia.
- Provide analytical support for student teams working with Olympic sports programs through the MSBA Sports Analytics concentration.
- Assist the Senior Associate AD, Analytics, and football staff with analytics projects and planning efforts that support the Wake Forest football program.
Other Functions:
- Other duties as assigned by Senior Associate Athletic Director, Analytics or Head Coach(es).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least two years of experience working in sports analytics or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to present to audiences across the technical spectrum.
- Fluency in Python.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL (or related query language) and comfort working with relational databases.
- Strong understanding of how to build ETL processes.
