Role Purpose 

The Data Steward supports the maintenance, quality, and governance of master and operational data across the organisation. Working under the guidance of Senior Data Stewards and Data Owners, this role focuses on day-to-day data validation, issue identification, and remediation support, helping ensure data is accurate, complete, and fit for use. 

The role provides an excellent opportunity to build strong business and data foundations, develop knowledge of end-to-end data flows, and gain exposure to enterprise data management practices within a complex, multinational environment. The Data Steward acts as an operational bridge between business users and data governance teams, contributing to reliable reporting, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

Data Quality & Stewardship Support 

  • Perform routine data quality checks on assigned data domains to validate accuracy, completeness, and consistency. 

  • Support the review, validation, and correction of master data attributes, hierarchies, and mappings, primarily across Corporate Function data such as Finance, Tax, Procurement, HR. 

  • Raise data quality issues clearly and promptly, logging defects and supporting remediation activities under supervision. 

  • Assist with monitoring data quality metrics and dashboards, escalating recurring or critical issues where appropriate. 

Collaboration & Business Engagement 

  • Work closely with Senior Data Stewards, Data Owners, Business Process Owners, and Product Owners to understand data requirements and business rules. 

  • Support data-related queries from markets and operating units, ensuring responses are timely and traceable. 

  • Participate in data forums, working groups, or governance sessions, contributing insights and learning from experienced stakeholders. 

Data Standards & Documentation 

  • Assist in documenting data definitions, standards, business rules, and procedures as defined by Data Owners and governance teams. 

  • Help maintain data guidelines and playbooks to enable consistent and accurate data maintenance by business users. 

  • Support change adoption by ensuring data requirements are understood during new capability rollouts or enhancements. 

Tools, Systems & Learning 

  • Use enterprise data management tools (e.g., Informatica IDMC) to perform data reviews and basic analysis. 

  • Develop knowledge of end-to-end data flows supporting capabilities such as Finance accounting, planning, procurement and HR People data. 

    

Qualifications & Skills: 

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: 

Required Skills 

  • Strong attention to detail with a structured, methodical approach to data. 

  • Basic analytical skills, with the ability to investigate issues and support root-cause analysis. 

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain data issues clearly to both technical and business users. 

  • Willingness and curiosity to learn business processes, data domains, and enterprise systems. 

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional and often remote team. 

 

Technical Skills 

  • Good working knowledge of Informatica IDMC for Data Quality & Governance  

  • Good working knowledge of Excel for data analysis (e.g. lookups, pivot tables). 

  • Exposure to, or strong interest in, data tools and platforms such as SAP, data quality tools, or BI/reporting solutions. 

  • Awareness of SQL and Power BI is advantageous but not essential. 

Experience Required: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, Data, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). 

  • Some experience in a data-focused, analytics, operations, or business support role is preferred. 

  • Exposure to master data, reporting, or operational systems is an advantage. 

  • Interest in the CPG/FMCG industry and the functions of Finance, Procurement, HR
