Merchants Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst Lead. This on-site position can work at any of our branch locations in MN or WI.
Primary duties include training other staff members around analyzing moderate to complex financial statements and tax returns accompanying a loan request. Responsibilities include serving as a subject matter expert and training others around financial statement spreading, data analysis highlighting borrowing entity key ratios and financial trends, as well as efficiently preparing the final loan request presentation. Other main responsibilities include collaboratively working with Credit personnel, Loan officers, and Lending Assistants, developing a sound understanding and adherence of the bank's loan policies/procedures, as well as serving as a mentor to others within Credit Administration.
Will directly supervise the Credit Analyst II and III teams that support Commercial, Agricultural, SBA, ARC, and Non-Profit borrowing relationships. This role will also oversee the Credit Analyst pipeline and communicate effectively with all stakeholders relative to the requirements of underwriting and analysis.
7-10 year’s experience in lending, underwriting, accounting, or trend analysis required with additional background in either a Commercial or Agriculture lending environment preferred. Prefer A BS/BA Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance preferred. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, a positive and helpful attitude and be able to work to meet aggressive deadlines.

Primary Duties:
Complete and train others on an interpretive analysis of financial statements for loan relationships and prepare loan presentations for the successful approval of commercial and agriculture loans. This includes developing credit information for use by lending officers or committees in making lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans.
Review and analyze all pertinent credit and financial information, including credit bureau reports, financial reports, cash flow analysis, ratio analysis, and reports information to lending officers.
Will maintain primary responsibility for the credit analyst pipeline and effective communication of status and trending of workload volumes.
May additionally perform administrative duties as it relates to supporting Moody’s Lending cloud for all uses in Credit Administration. This may include reviewing current uses of the system, proposing changes to the system, and consulting with others when challenges arise.
Will directly supervise a team of credit analysts and on occasion fill in for the Director of Credit Administration when it comes to all things credit analysis.
Attends customer calls with lending officers from time to time as requested

Working Location:
Any location within the Merchants Bank footprint, with travel to other bank locations in MN and WI less than 5% of the time.
Working Conditions:
Work will primarily be performed in inside working environment, low noise level, comfortable physical conditions.
Physical Demands:
Work will be performed primarily sitting at a desk, very low degree of lifting. Requires average finger dexterity to operate normal office equipment, such as computer, adding machine, etc. Requires good eye/finger coordination.
Skills Requirements:
7-10 year’s experience in lending, underwriting, accounting, or trend analysis required with additional background in either a Commercial or Agriculture lending environment preferred.
Prefer BS/BA Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance. Strong analytical skills; excellent people skills. Requires individual with strong oral and written communication skills; ability to express ideas in a clear, thorough, and concise manner.
Requires above-average aptitude in the area of math/number skills. Above-average ability in written communication, including word processing and Excel proficiency. Strong ability in problem analysis.
Amiable personality. Must be an excellent team worker.
Relationships:
Responsible to the Director of Credit Administration for fulfillment of duties, responsibilities, authority, and for proper interpretation.
