Job Description

 

  • Develop and maintain technical expertise in nutrient detection tools and equipment used for assessing plant metabolic activity and nutritional status.
  • Establish baseline measurements for nutrient levels and metabolic indicators across seed tomato plant populations on the farm.
  • Create comprehensive operational manuals detailing the configuration, operation, and maintenance procedures for all analytical tools and equipment.
  • Conduct training sessions and knowledge transfer programmes for stakeholders on the proper use and maintenance of detection tools and analytical equipment.
  • Analyse business context, data flow throughout the production process, and coordinate with external partners including R&D departments to ensure alignment of nutrition strategies.
  • Monitor crop nutrition status and identify nutrient deficiencies or imbalances; provide recommendations for corrective actions and optimisation.
  • Investigate and provide analytical support on ad hoc issues, challenges, and anomalies related to crop nutrition and plant health.
  • Prepare, analyse, and present comprehensive crop nutrition reports to management, including trends, findings, and actionable insights.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of all nutrient analyses, baseline data, and monitoring activities in compliance with company standards.
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and actively participate in and support organisational initiatives aimed at enhancing crop nutrition management practices.
  • Adhere to GSPP (Good Seed Production Practices) and Phyto Sanitation rules, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Comply with all Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) rules and regulations, and champion the implementation of Syngenta HSE policies across all activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate nutrition data into broader crop management and production planning strategies.
  • Undertake any other duties and projects as may be allocated from time to time.

 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Plant Science or a related field.
  • Understanding of crop physiology, plant nutrition, pest and disease management, and fertigation systems.
  • Proficiency in using analytical tools and equipment for nutrient detection and metabolic activity assessment.
