The Team : The Private Markets Data Operations Team delivers differentiated insights and analytics that empower clients operating across global private markets. The team is responsible for building marketāleading datasets with a strong emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. By leveraging innovative data collection methods, language expertise, Lean methodologies, and automation, the team enhances market transparency and delivers actionable intelligence.
As part of this team, the Chinese Language Expert plays a critical role in expanding and strengthening coverage of Greater China and Chinese-speaking market participants, ensuring highāquality intelligence on private companies, investors, and transactions. Through strong collaboration and a deep understanding of regional market dynamics, the team acts as a trusted partner to clients navigating opportunities and risks in a competitive private markets environment.
Responsibilities & Impact
In this role, you will support the teamās objectives by focusing on Chineseālanguage data collection, analysis, and maintenance. Your work will directly influence the quality, depth, and reliability of Private Markets datasets covering China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese entities. You will collaborate with global stakeholders to support data quality initiatives and adāhoc projects, contributing to the continuous enhancement of our Private Markets offerings.
Your contributions will help ensure our datasets meet the highest editorial and compliance standards, enabling clients to make informed strategic and investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection & Validation (Chinaāfocused)
Gather, interpret, and verify Mandarin Chineseālanguage data on private market participants, including companies, investors, funds, and transactions, using:
Chinese company websites and disclosures
Local and regional Chinese news sources
Government and regulatory registries (e.g., business registrations, filings, announcements)
Translate, contextualize, and standardize Chineseālanguage information into English for inclusion in global datasets while preserving accuracy and market context.
Ensure comprehensive coverage of Greater China private markets, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese entities.
Data Quality & Maintenance
Conduct regular data cleansing and validation to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness of Chineseāsourced datasets.
Identify discrepancies arising from translation, naming conventions, or regional reporting practices and resolve them in line with editorial standards.
Maintain robust documentation of Chinaāspecific data collection methodologies to support auditability and future reference.
Analysis & Reporting
Perform routine reporting and basic trend analysis on Chinaārelated private market data to surface actionable insights.
Support adāhoc analytical requests related to regional market trends, ownership structures, and investment activity involving Chinese entities.
Automation, Lean & GenAI
Support automation of Chineseālanguage data collection and reporting processes using SQL, Excel, and Lean methodologies.
Utilize GenAI tools to assist with exploratory data analysis, entity recognition, and translation validation for Chineseālanguage sources.
Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, scalability, and data integrity in Chinaāfocused workflows.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with global team members to meet individual and team KPIs, with a strong focus on quality and timeliness.
Provide input on new data collection strategies and product enhancements relevant to the China private markets landscape.
Troubleshoot data issues, share regional insights, and actively contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications / What We Are Looking For
Language & Regional Expertise
Strong proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (reading, writing, and comprehension) with the ability to interpret complex financial, legal, and corporate information.
Familiarity with Greater China business environments, corporate structures, and market practices.
Ability to navigate Chineseālanguage public records, regulatory filings, and local media sources.
Analytical & Technical Skills
Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and data accuracy.
Working knowledge of Excel and basic SQL; exposure to BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) is an advantage.
Understanding of compliance requirements in data collection and reporting.
Exposure to Lean principles, automation, or data operations workflows is desirable.
Willingness to learn and apply GenAI tools in data analysis and research.
Professional Skills
Strong secondary research and online thematic research capabilities.
Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain Chineseāmarket nuances to global stakeholders.
Good timeāmanagement, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
Proactive, resourceful, and adaptable in a fastāpaced, global team environment.
Basic project management skills for adāhoc initiatives.
Willingness to work flexible shifts to support global coverage requirements.
