Accommodations Traveller in ABU is looking for a Data Analytics Engineer to strengthen the data foundations of the ABU Traveller Domain. The team consists of Data Scientists, Analysts and Analytics Engineers. You will model and build data that brings the ABU Content Platform to life, and enable the team to answer questions about our most important revenue streams - the commission we charge our Partners. This role is a key player in bringing the Traveller Vision of the ABU to reality and will be vital in extracting the Stay DNA.

 

Role Description

 

You are an individual contributor who is responsible for the design and development of solutions that meet the analytical needs of the company by developing scalable, performant and extensible data models and data processing pipelines. This drives efficiency, business velocity and compliance across the company data estate.

 

You are responsible for independent development and delivery of analytical data products that enable business decision-making. You will support solution ideation and technical designs, and drive hands-on implementation. Furthermore, you need to support the influencing, and guidance to business and technology strategies, as they relate to data, through constant cross-functional interaction. You will actively engage with product/analytics/commercial teams, wider tracks and verticals to deeply understand their business needs. By asking insightful questions, you identify the critical data required to address these challenges, and align transformation with the overall commercial strategy. This demands both technical expertise and an in-depth understanding of business needs.

 

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Driving the implementation of reliable and well trusted metrics defined by the business, connecting disparate datasets into unified data products in the Lakehouse and/or Data Warehouse.

  • Producing curated, reusable analytical data products to enable self-serve analytics for many internal customers across departments.

  • Entering a new area, own the quality of the data and work with product owners and scientists to develop the analytics backlog.

  • Modeling data following best practices and Data Warehousing methodologies such as Data Vault and (Kimball) Dimensional modeling.

  • Transforming large, complex data sets into pragmatic, actionable insights and provide them in a consumable format for historical or predictive analysis.

  • Performing Data Governance responsibilities such as technical stewardship, data classification, compliance management, data quality monitoring, and security considerations.

  • Building data visualizations to trial/validate data products you build before releasing to customers.

  • Maintaining and tuning data pipeline health, including troubleshooting issues, implementing data quality controls, monitoring performance, and proactively addressing issues and risks.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a data or software-adjacent field, working with systems and data infrastructure at scale.

  • Experience in designing and implementing mature Data Warehouse pipelines using Data Vault and/or Dimensional modeling methodologies.

  • Experience working in a DevOp /DataOps environment.

  • Experience with ELT/ETL tools and methodologies.

  • Experience using scheduled workflow management tools such as Apache Airflow or Argo.

  • Experience/Expertise with relational databases and any flavour of SQL in an analytical context.

  • Experience with data exploration/visualisation and data story telling.

  • Excellent communication (written and spoken) and stakeholder management.

  • Highly skilled at writing and maintaining high-quality and reusable code, applying design patterns and meeting coding standards.

  • Experience with DBT, snowflake and tableau is preferred
