> description

As a data center facilities Operations manager, you will independently support the reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle performance of mission-critical mechanical, electrical, CCTV, Fire protection (SSPI), Access control system, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems essential to the smooth operation of hyperscale data centers.

In this role, you will apply strong technical knowledge of data center infrastructure management and, more broadly, of redundancy strategies and operational risks to maintain the long-term availability and performance of the systems.

You will participate in incident management and root cause analysis, contribute to maintenance planning and commissioning activities, and identify opportunities to improve the reliability, maintainability, and efficiency of technical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently, in collaboration with the COLO, ensure the monitoring and control of operations, inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, CCTV, and SSPI systems…
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, investigate incidents, respond to alarms, and coordinate with the COLO to carry out root cause analyses for issues related to equipment or other operational systems in the data center environment.
  • Support and improve maintenance procedures, operational sequences, diagrams, P&IDs, SLD’s, documentation quality, and operational standards.
  • Assist with capacity planning, upgrades, equipment replacements, commissioning activities, acceptance tests, and operational transfer requirements carried out by the COLO.
  • Work with on-site operations teams to improve maintainability, work safety, reliability, efficiency, and outcomes throughout the data center environment lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with COLO teams, service providers, internal engineering teams, and operations stakeholders to support maintenance, repairs, testing, and system upgrades.
  • Use the building management system (BMS), control platforms, alarms, trends, and maintenance data to assess system performance, identify recurring issues, and recommend corrective actions to the COLO
  • Review and keep the technical documentation of the sites up to date, including maintenance records, drawings, P&IDs, sequences of operation, and supplier documentation to ensure consistent execution across all sites.
  • Promote operational safety, compliance with environmental standards, awareness of the safety of people and property

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of the facility’s components and their operating parameters.
  • Detailed knowledge of data center operating environments and the four key constraints on operational efficiency (power, cooling, IT, and space), as well as the necessary operational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements based on legislation, standards (national and international), and codes of conduct.
  • Good operational judgment in the event of alarms, abnormal situations, maintenance activities, and high-risk operational scenarios.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and accountability in day-to-day operations.
  • Clear communication of technical issues, findings, corrective actions, and operational risks.
  • Strong safety mindset and strict adherence to procedures, lockout/tagout measures, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to analyze system trends, alarm history, and maintenance logs to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong coordination skills when collaborating with the COLO, on-site operations teams, engineering teams, and service providers.

Preferred Skills / Certifications

  • Experience with chillers, pumps, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, heat exchangers.

  • Experience with power distribution systems, substations, SWB, busways..

  • Experience with low-voltage systems, CCTV, access control systems, SSPI fire safety systems...

  • Familiarity with BMS, PLC/controls concepts, sequences of operation, trending, alarm management, commissioning, and vendor coordination.

  • Experience supporting maintenance planning, acceptance testing, energy-efficiency projects, equipment change-outs, and operational handover.

  • Have a DEV OPS mindset, and the ability to code is desirable.

  • ASHRAE training

  • Uptime Institute training, AOS (Accredited Operations Specialist), CDCMP (Certified Data Center Management Professional), Certified Data Center Technician Professional (CDCTP®) or similar data center infrastructure training

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • This is a mission-critical role supporting 24/7 operations where 100% uptime is essential; as such, regular attendance and flexibility for shift-based schedules are required.
