What will you contribute? 

Reporting to the Global Head of Data Governance, this position will play a key role on the Enterprise Data Governance team, supporting the implementation and ongoing development of data governance initiatives across Finastra. It involves both business and technical responsibilities, with an emphasis on assisting in the development, configuration, and maintenance of Finastra’s enterprise data governance systems. This team will help drive a global transformation Finastra’s data governance program, which will not only meet and exceed security, regulatory and compliance requirements, but also accelerate innovation in the development of data, analytic and AI products, unlocking new opportunities for monetization. 

 

Responsibilities & Deliverables  

Business Domain Leadership 

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of assigned business domains, including business processes, objectives, regulatory requirements, and key performance indicators. 
  • Partner with business leaders to identify strategic data opportunities and challenges. 
  • Act as the primary Data Office representative for assigned domains. 
  • Facilitate alignment between business priorities and enterprise data initiatives.  

Data Domain Management 

  • Establish and maintain data domain structures, ownership models, and governance processes. 
  • Define and manage domain roadmaps aligned to enterprise data strategy. 
  • Drive accountability for data assets, critical data elements (CDEs), and metadata within assigned domains. 
  • Promote domain-centric operating models and data product thinking across the organization. 

Data Governance 

  • Lead the implementation and adoption of data governance policies, standards, and controls. 
  • Partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and technology teams to ensure compliance with governance requirements. 
  • Oversee data quality, metadata management, lineage, classification, and data lifecycle activities. 
  • Support regulatory, risk, privacy, audit, and compliance initiatives through effective governance practices. 
  • Monitor governance KPIs and drive continuous improvement programs. 

Data Products & Business Value 

  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to identify, prioritize, and govern enterprise data products. 
  • Support the definition of data product requirements, success metrics, and value realization. 
  • Promote self-service analytics and trusted data consumption across business units. 
  • Ensure data products are aligned with business outcomes and strategic objectives. 

Data Strategy Support 

  • Assist the Global Head of Data Governance in the development and execution of enterprise data strategy. 
  • Contribute to data maturity assessments, roadmap development, and strategic planning activities. 
  • Support executive reporting, governance councils, and steering committees. 
  • Develop presentations, metrics, and reporting materials for senior leadership and executive stakeholders. 
  • Provide recommendations on data-related investments, priorities, and operating model enhancements. 

Stakeholder Management & Change Leadership 

  • Build strong relationships with business, technology, risk, compliance, and operational teams. 
  • Drive organizational adoption of data governance, data stewardship, and domain ownership practices. 
  • Facilitate governance forums, workshops, and stakeholder engagement sessions. 
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on data-related matters across the enterprise. 

 

Required Skills & Experience  

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting global data governance and data management initiatives, preferably in banking, fintech or other highly regulated industries. 
  • Proven expertise in implementing data catalog frameworks, controls, and monitoring processes across complex data ecosystems. 
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java. 
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including data stewards, engineers, compliance, and business stakeholders. 
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis and remediation of data quality issues across multiple systems and domains. 
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as BCBS 239, GDPR, or other data-related compliance standards. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset. 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical data issues into business language. 
  • Experience in the banking or financial services sector is considered a plus. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus). 
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, metadata management, data quality, and data management frameworks. 
  • Proven ability to support strategic implementation, manage change, and deliver results under tight deadlines. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, including product, legal, privacy, risk, and security teams. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Professional certifications in data governance (e.g., CDMP, ADGP, IGP) are advantageous.
