Job Description

About the role

As a member of the Data Services Team, you'll develop databases and data processing pipelines that power predictive analytics, data science, and business intelligence across SEEK. Reporting to Data Services Management, you'll collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and development teams to design technical solutions that meet business objectives.

You'll architect data processing pipelines, data warehouses, datamarts, and dimensional models on AWS infrastructure. This includes designing database schemas, optimizing SQL queries, and developing automation scripts. You'll also support end users with data discovery, query tuning, and resolving data quality issues while ensuring platform performance and scalability.

Working closely with AI & Ontology, BI and Reporting, Strategy and Product teams, and Infrastructure teams, your success will be measured by delivering data solutions that enable informed, data-driven decisions across SEEK.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test data processing pipelines, data warehouses, datamarts, and dimensional models.
  • Create optimized database schemas, indexes, views, and SQL queries on AWS infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support for data discovery, query optimization, and data quality issues. Analyze and optimize database performance, SQL queries, and ETL processes.
  • Deliver operational support including incident response, CI/CD implementation, monitoring, alerting, and database administration.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and experience

  • Proven experience with data warehouses, datamarts, and dimensional data modeling.
  • Advanced SQL development and database performance optimization.
  • Strong software engineering skills with proficiency in coding and scripting for data processing.
  • Experience building data pipelines, ETL processes, and orchestration workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with big data systems (Hadoop/EMR, Spark/Presto, MPP databases).
  • Working knowledge of AWS services, particularly EMR and S3.

Desirable Skills and experience

  • Machine Learning Engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Database and system administration background.
