Wait, What Do You Do?

We're looking for a Data Engineer to join Wildlife's Analytics & Insights team. Wildlife is one of the largest mobile gaming companies in the world. Behind every game we ship, there's a data infrastructure that tells us how players behave, how much revenue each title is generating, and how the operation is performing day to day. As a Data Engineer on the Analytics & Insights team, you'll work on the core products and platform that make this data trustworthy and available to everyone who depends on it, from game teams, marketing operations, and data scientists. Some of the challenges you'll work on: <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support the decision-making of our games operations through high-quality data products and well-structured dashboards;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Building and evolving integrations with third-party APIs, such as app stores, ad networks, and other external data providers;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Developing our internal event streaming process, responsible for the analytical and backend events;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Designing and maintaining the pipelines and tables that power our revenue, player, KPI, crashlytics, and experimentation data;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Operating and evolving the data platform itself, including Airflow, Databricks workspace, data lake, and Looker.</li> </ul> We know the work we do has a high impact on the company's success. What you'll do <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Solve open-ended problems that directly affect how the company tracks revenue, players, and game performance;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Take projects end-to-end — design, build, ship, and own them in production, with support from senior engineers on the team;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Work cross-functionally with Data Engineers in other teams, Data Scientists, Game Engineers, SDK Engineers, UA Analysts, and Game Ops;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Help improve the availability, reliability, performance, and cost of our existing systems — not just ship new features on top of them.</li> </ul> What you'll need <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Solid Python and SQL skills;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Hands-on experience with data engineering tools and concepts, such as ingestion services, orchestration, batch and streaming processing, data lakes, BI concepts;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Ownership mindset for the projects you work on;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Great communication skills;</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Proficiency in written English.</li> </ul> Main challenges <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">The team is responsible for designing, building, and evolving a wide set of complex data products, including ingestion (batch and streaming), pipelines, BI, data quality, and the infrastructure underneath all of it. Trade-offs are constant.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">We integrate with several external APIs (app stores, ad networks, pricing providers) and internal event sources, each with its own quirks.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Our outputs feed business-critical decisions, so reliability and data quality are very important.</li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">It's a deeply cross-functional environment — you'll interact with Data Engineers in other teams, Data Scientists, Game Engineers, SDK Engineers, UA Analysts, and Game Ops.</li> </ul> As a Data Engineer on the team, you'll help us keep the systems we build available, reliable, performant, cost-effective, and maintainable as the scope keeps growing.
