Great American Financial Institution Services specializes in providing risk management and product enhancement programs to vehicle lenders and lessors, commercial equipment lenders, auto dealers and mortgage lenders throughout the U.S. and Canada. Target clients include commercial banks, credit unions, finance companies, buy-here pay-here dealers and leasing and rental concerns. 

 

The Financial Institution Services division is hiring for a Data Reporting Analyst. The position offers hands-on exposure to pricing, underwriting, claims, product performance, and reporting while working closely with experienced data professionals and business partners.

To support this, employees in this role are expected to be onsite four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in-office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs. 

 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities 

• Supports research and data analysis for pricing, underwriting, claims, and product development initiatives. 

• Reviews internal and external data sources to help identify trends, risks, and opportunities, with guidance from experienced team members. 

• Prepares, updates, and validates schedules and reports for key metrics, including premiums, reserves, loss ratios, and policy benefits. 

• Documents rating factors, data sources, and analytical steps clearly and consistently. 

• Assists business stakeholders by preparing analyses, summaries, and materials that support decision-making. 

• Creates clear reports, basic visualizations, and presentation materials for technical and non-technical audiences. 

• Builds knowledge of company operations, systems, insurance products, actuarial concepts, and applicable industry practices. 

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Job Requirements 

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field. 

• Experience: Generally 0–2 years of relevant experience. Internship, co-op, academic project, insurance, finance, or data analysis experience is helpful.  

• Technical skills: Strong Excel skills required. Exposure to programming, reporting, or data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, SQL, or similar tools is preferred. 

• Analytical skills: Ability to work accurately with data, ask good questions, identify inconsistencies, and summarize findings clearly. 

• Communication and collaboration: Ability to collaborate with actuaries, data professionals, underwriters, claims teams, and other business partners. Comfortable learning in a fast-paced environment and communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Works on assignments of basic to moderate technical complexity, typically with direction, review, and coaching from more experienced team members. 

• Applies established analytical approaches and gradually develops a deeper understanding of actuarial methods, company systems, product performance, and business context. 

• Uses data to support practical recommendations, while escalating questions, assumptions, or unusual results for review. 

• Demonstrates attention to detail, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to learn new tools, processes, and insurance concepts.
