About the role
As a Data Scientist, you'll join AGL's AI/ML and Innovation team within Data, AI Tech and Delivery, helping to turn data into practical business outcomes. Working alongside experienced data scientists, machine learning engineers and platform specialists, you'll contribute to the development of advanced analytics, AI and machine learning solutions that support better decision-making, improve business processes and create value across AGL.
This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to apply their analytical and technical skills to real-world challenges, while building capability across data science, machine learning and software engineering in a supportive and collaborative team environment.
What you'll be doing
Prepare, explore, cleanse and analyse large and complex datasets to support model development, experimentation and insights generation.
Develop, test, evaluate and document machine learning models, analytical approaches and data science solutions.
Work with stakeholders to understand business challenges, clarify requirements and translate problems into data-driven solutions.
Communicate findings and recommendations in a clear and practical way to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaborate with architects, engineers and platform teams to help deploy analytical solutions into operational and production environments.
Apply best-practice approaches to model evaluation, experimentation and responsible AI.
Continuously grow your technical capability through coaching, knowledge sharing and hands-on project delivery.
What we're looking for
Strong foundational skills in Python and SQL, with exposure to data science and machine learning libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
An understanding of statistics, mathematical modelling and machine learning concepts, including predictive modelling, clustering, experimentation or Generative AI.
A curious and analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex problems and learning new technologies.
Experience through study, internships, research or personal projects involving data analysis, machine learning, AI or software development.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a range of audiences.
Familiarity with software engineering best practices, cloud technologies and modern data platforms; Azure certifications are highly regarded.
