The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Position Summary
The intern will join the Manufacturing IT team at the Wilmington Plant, supporting onsite development efforts that enable manufacturing and operational needs. This opportunity provides hands-on experience working with plant stakeholders to understand requirements, develop or enhance technical solutions, test improvements, troubleshoot issues, and document project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Manufacturing IT, engineering, and operations stakeholders to understand onsite development needs.
- Support development or enhancement of software, applications, interfaces, or technical solutions for plant processes.
- Assist with requirements gathering, solution design, coding, testing, and implementation activities.
- Help troubleshoot technical issues and identify practical improvement opportunities.
- Document technical requirements, solution designs, testing results, and support procedures.
- Participate in project planning, status reporting, and team collaboration.
- Apply academic knowledge to real-world manufacturing and operational challenges.
- Communicate project progress, outcomes, and recommendations clearly.
Requirements
- Student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and business concepts quickly.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, organized, and willing to take initiative and learn.
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Preferred Qualifications
- Programming, software development, controls, automation, or systems coursework or project experience.
- Interest in onsite development and technology within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
