Job Description

Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) drives tangible, impactful and financial results for Visa's clients, including card issuers, acquirers, merchants, fintechs, and other participants across the payments ecosystem. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, data analytics, product innovation, marketing, operations, and economics, VCA helps clients solve critical business challenges and unlock new growth opportunities.

The VCA team in Japan provides consulting and advisory services to leading financial institutions and payments industry participants. We help clients address strategic priorities across growth, business transformation, customer engagement, digital innovation, profitability improvement, and new business development.

What a Director, Business Consulting does at Visa:

We are seeking an experienced Consulting Director to lead consulting engagements for Visa's clients in Japan.

The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, lead high-impact consulting engagements, identify new business opportunities, and manage project delivery teams to achieve measurable business outcomes. This role requires strong strategic thinking, client leadership, business development, and project delivery capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead consulting engagements from opportunity identification and proposal development through project delivery and executive presentation.
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with senior client stakeholders and support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify client needs and shape consulting opportunities that drive measurable business impact.
  • Structure and solve complex business challenges through data-driven analysis and strategic problem solving.
  • Lead initiatives across business strategy, growth, transformation, innovation, customer experience, and digital initiatives.
  • Manage cross-functional and cross-regional project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Drive project planning, stakeholder alignment, risk management, and delivery excellence.
  • Collaborate with Visa product, sales, data science, and regional teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Coach and develop team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Contribute to business development, thought leadership, consulting methodologies, and practice growth.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Fluent Japanese and business-level English proficiency.
  • 12+ years of experience in strategy consulting, management consulting, corporate strategy, business planning, business transformation, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of leading complex client engagements and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience managing cross-functional and cross-regional initiatives in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong business development mindset with experience identifying, shaping, and delivering consulting opportunities.
  • Superior analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience developing business cases and evaluating growth opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and executive presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Passion for leveraging data, analytics, and emerging technologies to drive business outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in payments, banking, fintech, financial services, technology, or digital commerce.
  • Experience leading business transformation, digital transformation, or innovation initiatives.
  • Experience in product strategy, customer experience design, go-to-market strategy, or PMO engagements.
  • Familiarity with analytics, AI, and data-driven business models.
  • Experience working in global and highly matrixed organizations
