Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Director of Cobrand Card Acquisitions leads the strategic growth and optimization of United’s domestic card portfolios within MileagePlus. This role owns the full acquisition funnel—from targeting and media planning to product-market fit and channel strategy—partnering closely with one of the largest banks in the US, creative and media agencies, and cross-functional leaders. With a mandate to drive performance across all customer acquisition touchpoints, this leader will shape product evolution, campaign architecture, and data-driven decisioning across owned, paid, affiliate, and partner channels. This position is critical to the continued transformation of the loyalty business into a high-performing, AI-enabled marketing engine and growth driver for United Airlines.

  • Lead strategic relationships with issuer, network, media/agency, and internal partners to define shared goals and execute collaboratively
  • Own acquisition strategy and performance across all digital and traditional channels; lead targeting, segmentation, creative testing, and offer optimization
  • Manage end-to-end campaign planning and execution: audience development, channel selection, media buying, and conversion optimization
  • Develop and refresh card products to address market needs and customer segments in coordination with product, legal, and partner teams
  • Leverage advanced analytics and AI tools to automate and enhance media, offer, and channel performance and attribution
  • Build, inspire, and lead a high-performing team (3–5 direct, 15–25 total); foster a culture of agility, innovation, and accountability
  • Governance, planning, compliance, reporting, and budget management

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field is required
  • At least 5+ years working with credit cards, financial services, payments or related field
  • Deep expertise in cobrand credit card acquisition with a track record of success on issuer or brand/merchant side
  • Strong grasp of omnichannel marketing, including performance media (search, social, display, programmatic), affiliate, lifecycle, and in-channel optimization
  • Proven success in product positioning and working cross-functionally to evolve product offerings in line with customer needs and reward card market
  • Advanced analytical and attribution modeling skills, with fluency in using first-party and third-party data, measurement platforms, and A/B testing tools
  • Familiarity with and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, especially the use of AI/ML in marketing workflows, targeting, content creation, and predictive analytics
  • Exceptional relationship management skills and ability to influence and negotiate across internal departments, senior leadership, and external partners
  • Strong leadership presence and the ability to scale and mentor cross-functional teams
  • Agile, entrepreneurial mindset with high tolerance for ambiguity and ability to pivot priorities as needed
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills, with ability to align diverse stakeholders toward a shared goals
  • Collaborative and approachable; brings a sense of humor and perspective to a high-stakes, fast-paced role

The base pay range for this role is $159,790.00 to $207,998.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
