JOB SUMMARY
The Economic Research Analyst is responsible for managing ONEOK's portfolio of third-party market intelligence, data, and research subscriptions. This role serves as the primary point of contact for vendors, users, and internal stakeholders, overseeing contract renewals, user onboarding, vendor relationships, and portfolio optimization. The analyst works across commercial, research, information technology, legal, procurement, and finance teams to ensure market intelligence resources are fully utilized, integrated into internal systems, aligned with business needs, and delivering maximum value to the organization. This role also leads vendor engagement efforts, coordinates market outlook presentations and training sessions, gathers feedback from user groups, and identifies opportunities to improve utilization, eliminate duplication, and enhance access to critical market data. The objective of this position is not simply to manage subscriptions, but to maximize the value ONEOK receives from its investment in market intelligence, research, and data.Job Profile Summary
The Energy Market Intelligence Analyst is responsible for managing and optimizing ONEOK's portfolio of market intelligence, research, analytics, and data subscriptions. The role serves as the central point of coordination for vendor relationships, contract administration, user engagement, data integration initiatives, and portfolio planning.
The analyst works closely with stakeholders across commodity market analysis, commercial, finance, procurement, legal, and information technology to ensure the company receives maximum value from its investment in third-party market intelligence services.
The position combines vendor management, data strategy, user support, subscription administration, and market intelligence program coordination into a single role focused on improving utilization, reducing duplication, and supporting informed business decisions.
Primary Responsibilities
Subscription Portfolio Management
Manage the lifecycle of market intelligence and data subscriptions from onboarding through renewal or retirement
Maintain inventory of all subscriptions, users, costs, contracts, renewal dates, and service offerings
Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and internal stakeholders
Coordinate contract renewals and support pricing and service reviews
Monitor subscription costs and support annual budgeting and forecasting activities
Track opportunities to consolidate, optimize, or retire subscriptions
Vendor Relationship Management
Develop and maintain relationships with data, research, and analytics providers
Coordinate vendor meetings, demonstrations, training sessions, and market outlook presentations
Monitor new product offerings and communicate relevant opportunities to stakeholders
Facilitate issue resolution, service requests, and account management activities
Support evaluation of new vendors and services
User Engagement and Support
Coordinate user onboarding, account provisioning, and access management
Maintain records of licensed users and subscription utilization
Gather feedback from business users regarding content quality, functionality, and future needs
Identify gaps in coverage and opportunities to improve the value received from subscriptions
Serve as a resource for questions related to available services and datasets
Data Integration and Accessibility
Coordinate with technology and data teams to improve access to market intelligence datasets
Support efforts to integrate vendor data into Databricks, Power BI, data catalog platforms, and other internal systems
Maintain awareness of available APIs, structured datasets, and automated delivery options
Help improve discoverability and use of market intelligence across the organization
Support efforts to move data from vendor platforms into broader enterprise workflows
Portfolio Optimization
Monitor usage trends and identify underutilized services
Analyze overlap between subscriptions and identify opportunities to reduce duplication
Support post-acquisition integration efforts involving market intelligence services
Develop recommendations for subscription additions, modifications, and retirements
Track realized and potential cost savings opportunities
Program Coordination and Reporting
Develop reports and updates for management regarding subscription utilization, costs, and opportunities
Support annual planning activities and budget development
Maintain documentation, processes, and institutional knowledge related to subscriptions and data services
Ensure continuity and visibility across the portfolio
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, data analytics, information management, engineering, or a related field
Experience working with market intelligence, research services, subscriptions, or data products
Strong organizational and project coordination skills
Understanding of data platforms, APIs, business intelligence tools, or data management concepts
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to analyze information, identify trends, and make recommendations
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field required
Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field preferred
Work Experience
Knowledge of fundamental drivers of global energy markets, ideally with knowledge of multiple commodities, e.g. crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids
Experience researching, identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing problems and situations and providing appropriate actions, alternatives, and/or recommendations
