General Purpose:  The Enterprise Applications Analyst for our Credit Union is responsible for analyzing, designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining software applications and systems that are critical to the operation of our financial institution. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, IT personnel, and vendors to ensure the efficient and effective use of technology to meet the needs of our Credit Union.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Level I -

  • Perform the recurring daily administrative functions of Jack Henry’s products and services (Symitar, Synergy, Image Center, etc)
  • Monitor and maintain application availability, performance, and security.
  • Lead and implement the testing, installation, and maintenance of new Service Packs or updates for Symitar as required by Jack Henry. 
  • Process ServiceNow requests and respond to staff questions in a timely manner with educated solutions.
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of applications to ensure that they function correctly and meet performance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and policies related to the Credit Union's applications.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the Credit Union's business processes, systems, and applications to ensure effective delivery of technology solutions.

Level II – Expected to perform all duties above, in addition to:

  • Perform recurring daily administrative functions of individually assigned software applications in addition to Symitar. 
  • Participate in project planning and management, including resource allocation, risk assessment, and timeline management.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand application requirements and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist with the creating, testing, and implementation of Micro Applications, Specfiles, and various PowerOns within Symitar. 
  • Perform system analysis and design to develop and maintain business-critical applications.
  • Develop and maintain application documentation, including functional and technical specifications, test plans, and training materials.
  • Manage vendor relations related to assigned applications.

Senior – Expected to perform all duties above, in addition to:

  • Provide insight and guidance into overall application administration and best practices.
  • Lead and mentor a team of application analysts in the analysis, design, testing, implementation, and maintenance of software applications and systems.
  • Lead training, share skills and knowledge, and provide work direction to junior team members. 
  • Lead testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of applications to ensure they function correctly and meet performance requirements.
  • Advise the Enterprise Applications Manager on critical information relevant to applications or daily operations.
  • Research and recommend new technologies and trends in the financial industry and provide recommendations to senior management regarding the adoption of new applications or systems.
  • Enhance our applications to boost performance and efficiency.  This includes identifying issues, implementing fixes, and ensuring continuous improvement of the application portfolio. Your expertise in debugging, upgrading, and optimizing will help create a seamless user experience. 

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

Level I -

  • Maintain security standards to address confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and data.
  • Serve as back-up support to maintain and administer parameters, defaults and system settings within the Credit Union’s software applications.
  • Coordinate with vendors to maintain a positive working relationship that benefits the Credit Union and ensures reliable, high-quality service.
  • A strong technological background and understanding as to how the digital products interact collectively and with other systems in the BHFCU environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Enterprise Applications Manager.

Level II-Senior – Expected to perform all other duties/responsibilities listed above, in addition to:

  • Obtain required information from vendors, occasionally advising on vendor performance.
  • Coordinate meetings with multiple vendors to create a shared understanding of a problem, process, procedure, or new software implementation.
  • Serve as lead support to maintain and administer parameters, defaults, and system settings within the Credit Union’s software applications. 
  • Assist in training and providing work directions to less experienced application analysts.

Job Knowledge:

Level II – Proficient Knowledge

Senior – Expert Knowledge

  • Knowledge of modern principles and practices of technology, systems integration, and project management.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, composition, and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union rules, products, services, regulations, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union philosophies, practices, policies, and interrelated functions.
  • Knowledge of project management standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of the Credit Union’s core system, Symitar, and various other applications under the Jack Henry umbrella. 
  • A strong technological knowledge and understanding as to how the digital products interact collectively and with other systems in the BHFCU environment.

  • Ability to express oneself, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain confidential records and reports.
  •  Ability to handle daily routine with moderate freedom to read and act upon various situations.
  • Ability to prioritize duties, handle multiple tasks, and produce a high volume of work in a timely manner that is accurate and of high quality.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities and elicit cooperation from all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including business analysts, developers, and vendors
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Level II-Senior – Expected to have all abilities listed above, in addition to:

  • Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts and develop solutions. 
  • Ability to forward think and identify opportunities to leverage new technologies to support the strategic initiatives of the Credit Union. 
  • Ability to recognize potential problems and recommend solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to lead team members effectively in the absence of formal leadership.
  • Ability to take complete ownership and responsibility for assigned projects and applications.
  • Ability to perform all advanced functions/requests within Symitar, in addition to individually assigned applications.   

Job Qualifications (Education/Experience):

All positions require a four-year college level of language, math and reasoning skills.  Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, or Information Systems is preferred.

Qualified individuals will have an interest in technology and strong critical thinking skills.  Experience with application development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall is preferred. 

Level I -

  • 0-4 years of experience administering software applications.
  • Experience with financial related systems preferred.
  • Experience problem-solving simple to somewhat complex issues.
  • Experience working with other functional areas of the Credit Union on the development or implementation of software applications.

Level II -

  • 5-9 years of experience administering software applications and deploying technology solutions.
  • Experience deploying multiple new technology solutions.
  • Experience deploying service packs, updates, compliance related changes.
  • Experience problem-solving complex and diverse issues impacting multiple functional areas.
  • Experience in the full cycle of formal project management, serving as the department point of contact throughout the duration of the project. Must have experience in at least one but less than four formally completed projects.
  • Experience leading other functional areas and departments through software development, improvement, adoption, or enhancement.
  • Obtained additional Jack Henry or assigned application certification(s). 
  • Completed additional certifications related to software applications individually responsible for. 
  • Experience performing advanced functions within Symitar to include creating new PowerOns, installing Micro Applications, and updating various parameters to meet project requirements. 

Senior -

  • 10+ years of experience administering software applications and deploying technology solutions.
  • Experience managing teams and vendor relationships.
  • Experience leading teams or other functional departments through complex problems, changes, and solving issues using various resources.
  • Experience in the full life cycle of formal project management, serving as the department point of contact throughout the duration of the project. Must have experience in four or more completed projects.
  • Experience with planning, preparing, and executing a merger or acquisition of another financial institution.
  • Completed relevant learning paths in JH University and considered a master of Symitar, in addition to any other individually assigned applications.
  • Experience leading teams through implementation and testing of new service packs, updates, and compliance related changes.
  • Experience leading team members through the creation and implementation of new PowerOns, Micro Applications, Specfiles, parameter updates, user and record creation, and modification of various other parameters within Symitar.

Work Environment/Physical Activities

Occasional travel to one of BHFCU’s branch locations or attendance at community events may be required.

This position is remote work eligible under certain circumstances.

This position has the option of a hybrid work schedule, with at least three days per week in the office. An assessment of the remote work environment must be completed prior to a remote work plan being developed.

Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions with supervision and work effectively either on your own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy.
