Equity Investment Analyst
Job Summary
The Equity Investment Analyst conducts deep fundamental research on publicly traded companies to identify mispriced securities and generate actionable investment ideas that directly drive portfolio outperformance whilst managing capital risk.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Equity Research & Idea Generation
- Identify and analyse international equities, building well-reasoned buy/sell/hold recommendations that strengthen portfolio performance.
- Screen markets and sectors for mispriced opportunities, turning company filings, earnings calls, and industry data into high-conviction investment ideas.
- Track company fundamentals, competitive positioning, and management execution to stay ahead of shifts that could move a thesis.
- Listen to earnings call and read conference calls to better understand the businesses and earnings power.
- Maintain a disciplined research process, from initial screen to fully documented investment case.
2.Valuation & Financial Modelling
- Build and maintain institutional-grade financial models, including DCF, comparable company, and precedent transaction analyses.
- Stress-test valuations under multiple scenarios, clearly articulating the assumptions and risks behind every target price.
- Keep models current with earnings releases, guidance updates, and corporate actions.
3. Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management
- Monitor existing equity holdings against thesis, flagging deteriorating fundamentals or valuation extremes before they become problems.
- Support position sizing and portfolio construction decisions with data-driven risk and return analysis.
- Maintain sector and stock watchlists, ensuring the team always has a current view of opportunities and threats.
4. Strategy & Market Intelligence
- Monitor global markets, interest rates, and macro policy, translating signals into actionable equity positioning.
- Present research findings and recommendations to the Investment Committee, turning analysis into confident, decision-ready proposals.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain performance attribution and portfolio reporting for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Compile board and committee materials, ensuring leadership has clear, well-prepared analysis ahead of key decisions.
- Collaborate with fixed income and risk colleagues to maintain a coherent, well-diversified view across the portfolio.
- Take on projects and research initiatives that advance the team's capabilities and the firm's strategic goals.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum 5 CSEC passes inclusive of Grade 1 or 2 in Mathematics and English A and
6 CAPE passes or an equivalent diploma or professional certificate.
BSc in finance related studies.
Pursuing CFA
Industry Qualifications is an asset
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years experience in research in US Equity Markets/Financial Services Industry
Insurance Industry Experience is an asset
