The anticipated pay range for this role is as follows: up to $130k yr./. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled Expert SAP Basis Engineer to lead the design, administration and optimization of Owens and Minor SAP landscapes. This position is responsible for maintaining SAP ecosystems to ensure optimal performance, availability and security is met. This includes:
- Facilitating and managing the delivery and support of the SAP Basis portion of projects/programs within IT functional area.
- Coordinating and taking the lead role on technical enhancement, development and support in SAP Basis area.
- Installing and configuring Basis components, interfaces and enhancements.
- Participating and managing in SAP Portal development, SAP UI5/Fiori, and JAVA web-Dynpro.
- Producing functional and SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) documentation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
System Performance Monitoring and Support
- Monitor and maintain system performance on all SAP systems and troubleshoot production issues proactively.
- Ensure SLA compliance for system availability and response times
Landscape & Architecture Management
- Maintain current SAP system landscapes across DEV, QA, and PROD environments
- Support high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity setups
- Manage and support cloud based platforms (SAP IBP)
- Perform optimal system sizing, capacity planning, and scalability
SAP System Administration and System Optimization
- Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems (ECC, BW, Solution Manager etc.)
- Perform system copies, client copies, and system refresh activities
- Manage SAP kernel upgrades, patching, and transport management
- Work closely with DBAs on database optimization strategies
Project / Initiatives Delivery
- Lead on SAP Basis component on IT projects/initiatives
- Work closely with IT stakeholders and business owners to define business requirements/goals and identify and resolve business systems issues
- Simultaneously coordinate activities for multiple projects and activities
- Coordinate and facilitate end to end testing, including SIT and UAT, for modified and new systems
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior Basis team members
- Participate in on-call support rotation and occasional weekend activities for critical system patches and upgrades
- Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Manager
Automation & Innovation
- Drive automation initiatives (e.g., scripting, monitoring alerts, provisioning)
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
- Conduct research on software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts
- Improve operational efficiency through tools and process optimization
- Stay updated with SAP roadmap (e.g., S/4HANA, RISE with SAP)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS in Information Technology or Computer Science and at least 8 years professional experience working within SAP Basis administration area.
- Minimum 5 years of experience on completing SAP Basis component in SAP project lifecycle (e.g. planning, analysis, design, testing, implementation, and documentation)
- Experience with SAP upgrades, migrations, and Unicode conversions
- Working Knowledge of traditional databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) and Linux/Unix/Wintel environments
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a customer service orientated environment.
- Ability to work with diverse remote teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-availability environment
- High energy, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills
- SAP certifications (e.g. SAP Basis) highly desirable
- ITIL certification or experience with ITIL processes preferred
