Description
The Finance & Business Analyst plays a key role in supporting financial planning, analysis, and business decision-making. This role combines financial analysis with business analytics to drive insights and organizational performance. Working closely with the Director of Finance and cross-functional teams, this position is responsible for developing financial models, maintaining forecasts, analyzing financial and operational performance, supporting cash flow planning, and providing analytical insights that support organizational decision-making. The Finance & Business Analyst translates financial and operational data into actionable insights that support organizational strategy, resource allocation, and performance improvement.
Requirements
What You'll Do
Drive Financial Planning & Analysis
- Develop and maintain multi-year financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses that support strategic planning.
- Partner with department leaders to develop annual budgets and financial plans.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance, operational changes, and emerging trends.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and resource allocation.
- Support business cases and financial evaluations for strategic initiatives and investments.
Deliver Meaningful Business Insights
- Develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) across financial and operational areas.
- Analyze trends, risks, opportunities, and organizational performance metrics.
- Create recurring monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for leadership, management teams, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses that support decision-making across departments.
- Translate data into clear recommendations that inform organizational strategy and priorities.
Enhance Reporting & Analytics
- Design dashboards, visualizations, and management reporting tools that improve visibility into organizational performance.
- Develop reports and analytical tools that support better forecasting, planning, and accountability.
- Partner with teams across the organization to improve data quality, reporting consistency, and accessibility.
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting processes and increase operational efficiency.
Support Treasury & Financial Operations
- Develop and maintain cash flow projections and liquidity analyses.
- Support mortgage capital deployment strategies and resource optimization efforts.
- Assist with compliance, audit, and regulatory reporting requirements related to lending and financial operations.
- Provide analytical support for financial operations and long-term organizational planning.
Contribute to Organizational Excellence
- Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules, analyses, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare presentations and materials for leadership, board committees, lenders, auditors, and other stakeholders.
- Continuously recommend improvements to business processes, financial reporting, and analytical capabilities.
- Support additional projects and initiatives that advance Habitat Omaha's mission and goals.

What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, FP&A, business analytics, accounting, or related disciplines.
- Experience developing budgets, forecasts, financial models, and management reporting.
- Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Skills & Strengths
- Financial Analysis: Strong understanding of forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial planning.

- Experience in construction, real estate development, mortgage lending, nonprofit finance, or financial services.
