The Pima County Department of Finance & Risk Management is seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to join its Budget Division. The successful candidate will assist in developing the annual operating budget and monitoring adopted budgets through monthly analyses, analytical tools, and reporting. Responsibilities include reviewing transactions for compliance with the chart of accounts, projecting year-end expenditures, and completing detailed ad hoc projects. The successful candidate will work closely with department contacts to develop a strong understanding of County operations. This position is responsible for assisting with the development, preparation, and administration of annual budgets for County departments. Additional responsibilities include compiling and analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and monitoring budget performance. Monitors departmental spending under supervision, assists in gathering and compiling forecast data, and contributes to the preparation of monthly expenditure and revenue forecast reports;
Supports the preparation, analysis, review, and monitoring of Countywide budgets, personnel changes, and funding adjustments under guidance;
Assists with gathering and organizing budgetary and financial data to support studies on the feasibility of initiating or expanding programs or services;
Provides entry-level technical assistance to departments in budget preparation by clarifying financial policies, procedures, and processes and assisting with the use of the automated budget system;
Assists in the preparation of preliminary funding recommendations by compiling and organizing revenue and expenditure data and program performance measures;
Compiles and organizes data for inclusion in the annual Countywide budget documents and assists in reconciling financial data under supervision;
Supports inventory reconciliations to help ensure proper controls are in place to safeguard County assets;
Assists in preparing internal financial and budget reports by gathering and organizing data;
Tracks and compiles information on proposed and current legislation under direction to support impact analysis and compliance efforts;
Performs other entry-level duties as assigned to support departmental and Countywide goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, economics, business or public administration, or a closely related field, as defined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

College-level coursework or professional experience in financial accounting.
College-level coursework or professional experience in Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access.
College-level coursework or professional experience in budgeting.

Bachelor's degree or higher in finance, accounting, or closely related field.

Selection Process:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certificates: Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Failure to maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.
