Financial Analyst- West & South-Central Region
Position Summary:
The Financial Analyst partners with financial, operational and business leaders to analyze financial performance, identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and support business decisions. This role is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, variance analysis, and operational performance analysis across multiple regional offices. The analyst works closely with operations, accounting, and corporate leadership to provide meaningful financial insights that improve business performance. Preferred work location: Albany, Oregon. Candidates may also be considered at other MEI office locations within the assigned territory. This position supports operations across the Pacific, Mountain, and Central time zones.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop trusted partnerships with operational leadership to understand business drivers and provide financial insights that support decision making.
- Analyze trends in revenue, gross margin, labor, overhead, and other key operating metrics.
- Provide recommendations that improve profitability, cash flow, and operational performance.
- Monitor key performance indicators and communicate emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to operational leadership.
- Support the annual budget process and periodic forecasting activities.
- Prepare, examine, and analyze financial records, systems, and activities for efficiencies and opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain monthly financial reporting packages, variance analyses, and performance dashboards.
- Develop and maintain financial models used for budgeting, forecasting, pricing analyses, and business planning.
- Collaborate with Accounting to improve reporting accuracy and financial processes.
- Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and other special projects through financial analysis as assigned.
- Contribute to select corporate FP&A reporting and special projects.
- Travel to operating offices to develop relationships with local leadership and better understand business operations (up to 25%).
- Perform other duties as necessary and requested.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of US GAAP.
- Demonstrated ability to identify trends, investigate variances, and recommend practical business improvements to business leaders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functioning teams.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, Power Query or similar, complex formulas, financial modeling).
- Experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft D365 or a similar ERP system preferred.
- Able to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Normal temperature-controlled office environment. The Financial Analyst will frequently use a computer, keyboard / mouse, cellular or office telephone, and regular business office equipment. Extended periods of sitting for long durations, occasional walking, and lifting up to ten pounds. Occasional walking over uneven outdoor terrain and/or exposure to inclement weather, non-temperature-controlled environments, or warehouse-type environments.
