Objectives of the Position <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Independently in delivering Financial Reporting services to BSSCKL’s customers in accordance with established Financial Reporting processes and work procedures and in compliance with BASF policies & guidelines, internal control requirements, local company legal and statutory requirements. </li> </ul> <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Ensure that timelines and quality meet the agreed service levels and targets.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">To support and provide guidance to Analysts in performing Financial Reporting tasks.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">To back up, assist with and perform Financial Reporting tasks as required.</li> </ul> Main Tasks Functional Tasks (including but not limited to): <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Independently provide Financial Reporting transaction processing support and ensuring delivery quality in terms of accuracy, completeness and timeliness on daily basis.</li> <li class="xl25" style="font-size:10.0pt">Perform and analyse booking of accounting transactions, fixed asset transactions, master data maintenance and account reconciliation including account clearing.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Perform analytical review of profit and loss accounts and balance sheet, trend analysis and transaction posting checks.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Prepare and coordinate for month-end, quarter-end, year-end and statutory financial reports for BASF companies across Asia Pacific on timely, accurate and complete basis. This would include reports for group reporting, internal management reporting, statutory reporting as well as any agreed ad hoc reports required e.g. audit schedules, tax schedules etc.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Trouble shoot and liaise with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues and queries related to Financial Reporting processes.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Contribute or participate in working groups (i.e. Smart Close, Final Sprint, RRM, CbCR & etc.) with specific expertise knowledge.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Perform back up and other duties as and when required or delegated.</li> </ul> Compliance and Quality: <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Participate in any compliance audits and respond to audit queries.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Responsible in ensuring all work documentations and work processes are updated in compliance to BASF policies & guidelines, Financial Reporting Compliance requirements, local company legal and statutory requirements.</li> </ul> Continuous Improvement and Projects: <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Identify, recommend and implement solutions for continuous improvement opportunities. </li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Contribute and drive the implementation of project initiatives e.g. technology enhancement, internal control, merger and acquisition etc.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Lead local projects and participate in regional projects.</li> </ul> Knowledge Management: <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Contribute inputs to maintain and update a set of comprehensive and complete training materials of Financial Reporting functional training.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Contribute to Financial Reporting internal control measures.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Contribute to knowledge database by updating company specific procedures and issue logs (including resolution and preventive action) to facilitate continuous learning, development and knowledge retention.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Support new and existing team members through effective knowledge transfer and sharing of best practice for sustainable development of knowledge within the team.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Conduct functional training in accordance with established training structure (when necessary).</li> </ul> Frequent collaboration with relevant stakeholders: <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Counterparts in BASF companies, internal/external auditors, external consultants and BSSCKL cross functional units.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Specialists, Experts, Assistant Managers, Managers, Department Head, Analysts and peers.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Corporate Finance unit.</li> <li style="font-size:10.0pt">Global Financial Reporting functional units.</li> </ul> Degree of Supervision Required in the job: Work with minimal supervision. Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position Education: <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li class="MsoBodyText" style="font-size:10.0pt">University degree in finance and accounting or business studies; and/or</li> <li class="MsoBodyText" style="font-size:10.0pt">Chartered or Certified Professional Accountant or equivalent.</li> </ul> Working Experience: <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li class="MsoBodyText" style="font-size:10.0pt">Minimum 3 years’ experiences in Financial Reporting or other accounting function. Competent candidates with lesser years of experience are considerable.</li> <li class="MsoBodyText" style="font-size:10.0pt">Preferably experience working in SAP system or other major ERP system’s work environment.</li> <li class="MsoBodyText" style="font-size:10.0pt">Experience in a shared service or business process outsourcing engagement will be an added advantage.</li> <li class="MsoBodyText" style="font-size:10.0pt">Experience working in a MNC or Malaysian Public listed company preferred.</li> </ul> Technical & Professional Knowledge: <ul style="margin-top:3.0px"> <li class="MsoBodyText" style="font-size:10.0pt">Knowledge and understanding of Financial Reporting and other accounting functions.</li> <li class="MsoBodyText" style="font-size:10.0pt">Knowledge and experience of MS office tools.</li> <li class="MsoBodyText" style="font-size:10.0pt">Proficiency in English and other language required with good communication skill.</li> </ul> <div id="tor__fintJobDescFooter_readOnlyDiv"> <div id="tor__fintJobDescFooter_content"></div> </div> BASF has been present in Malaysia since 1989, and operates a manufacturing plant in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
