•    The Head, Client Data Management is an Executive Director role accountable for leading the client, counterparty, SSI, settlement and reference data agenda for Post Trade Operations across GBS India and Malaysia, with responsibility for driving consistent standards, strong controls, trusted service delivery and sustainable data quality outcomes.
•    The role is critical to protecting client service, settlement efficiency, confirmation accuracy, regulatory reporting integrity and operational resilience. The role holder will define the operating model, strengthen data ownership, reduce recurring data defects, and ensure that data used across the post-trade lifecycle is accurate, complete, controlled and fit for use.
•    The successful candidate will operate as a senior leader across Global Markets Operations, partnering with Client Lifecycle, Static Data, Sales, Trading, Middle Office, Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Operations, Technology, Compliance, Risk and Data Office teams. The role requires strong strategic judgement, control discipline, senior stakeholder influence and the ability to lead transformation across multiple locations and functions.
•    The role holder will be expected to build a high-performing function that is trusted by the business, respected by control partners, and recognised for improving client outcomes, reducing operational risk and enabling scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Define and execute the Client Data Management strategy for Post Trade Operations, aligned to Group data standards, regulatory expectations, operational resilience, control priorities and digital transformation.
•    Establish a scalable and consistent operating model for client, counterparty, SSI, settlement and reference data across GBS India and Malaysia, with clear ownership, governance and service expectations.
•    Set the direction for data quality, lineage, preventative controls, exception management and root-cause remediation to reduce downstream operational risk.
•    Represent Post Trade Operations in senior data, reference data, SSI, regulatory data and transformation forums, ensuring Operations requirements are understood and embedded.

Business
•    Accountable for ensuring client and counterparty data is accurate, complete, timely and fit for use across the post-trade lifecycle, including settlements, confirmations, regulatory reporting and client service.
•    Act as senior Operations owner for resolving material data issues impacting trade flow, client experience, risk outcomes and business growth.
•    Partner with Markets, Client Lifecycle, Static Data, Middle Office, Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Operations and Technology to prevent recurring data-led breaks and service disruption.
•    Provide senior-level transparency on data quality themes, remediation progress, business impact and control posture.

Processes
•    Own the end-to-end process framework for client data maintenance, SSI setup, static data exceptions, quality checks, approval workflows, evidence standards and remediation.
•    Standardise processes, controls, documentation, service levels and escalation paths across locations to drive consistency, resilience and operational discipline.
•    Reduce manual intervention, duplicate records, incomplete setups, unauthorised changes and recurring data defects through process redesign and preventative controls.
•    Ensure maker-checker, evidence retention, access control, periodic review and change governance are embedded and audit-read

People & Talent
•    Lead and develop a high-performing, multi-location function with strong capability across client data, reference data, post-trade operations, risk, controls and transformation.
•    Build succession depth, talent mobility and leadership capability across Post Trade Operations, Data, Client Lifecycle and control-aligned functions.
•    Create a culture of ownership, precision, service discipline and proactive risk management, with clear expectations on accountability and escalation.
•    Strengthen capability in data governance, analytics, automation, stakeholder management and senior decision support.

Risk Management
•    Accountable for the operational risk profile of client, counterparty, SSI, settlement and post-trade reference data within the function’s remit.
•    Ensure risks arising from incorrect SSI, incomplete client setup, settlement failures, confirmation breaks, regulatory data gaps and weak data ownership are identified, assessed, escalated and remediated.
•    Embed KRIs, thematic reviews, control testing, incident analysis and sustainable root-cause remediation across the data control environment.
•    Provide senior leadership oversight of material incidents, audit issues, regulatory concerns and recurring control weaknesses.

Governance
•    Establish robust governance over data quality, aged exceptions, service performance, control indicators, remediation plans and ownership of key data risks.
•    Provide clear and transparent reporting to Post Trade Operations, Data Governance, Operational Risk, Compliance, Audit and relevant senior management forums.
•    Ensure alignment with Group data policies, operational risk framework, conduct expectations and regulatory obligations.
•    Maintain audit-ready evidence, clear accountability and disciplined governance over key data controls and remediation commitments.

•    Transformation
•    Sponsor and lead transformation of client and settlement data processes through automation, workflow redesign, golden-source alignment, AI-enabled quality checks and standardised exception management.
•    Partner with Technology, Data Office and Operations teams to improve data lineage, validation rules, exception routing, dashboards and preventative controls.
•    Drive simplification, standardisation and digitisation of data processes to reduce manual risk, improve speed, strengthen transparency and enhance scalability.
•    Ensure transformation initiatives deliver measurable improvement in data quality, operational resilience, service outcomes and control effectiveness.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
•    Provide leadership within the Middle Office organisation to comply with the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and practices as defined by internal and external requirements.
•    Takes a proactive approach to implementing Just Culture and emphasising the importance of the groups’ valued behaviours regularly through retrospective sessions with the team and Channels townhall sessions.
•    Embed the Group’s Values and Group Code of Conduct to ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics.  Comply with relevant policies, processes, and regulations, as part of the culture.

Qualifications

•    University degree preferred in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, Operations, Technology, Data, Engineering or a related discipline.
•    Significant senior leadership experience in Global Markets Operations, Post Trade Operations, Middle Office, Client Data, Reference Data, Client Lifecycle, Controls, Risk Management or Transformation.
•    Proven experience leading large, complex or multi-location teams, preferably across GBS, offshore, regional hub or global operating environments.
•    Strong understanding of Global Markets products, trade lifecycle, client and counterparty data, SSI, settlement, confirmations, regulatory reporting and operational risk.
•    Demonstrated track record in strengthening controls, improving service delivery, leading remediation and delivering sustainable transformation.
•    Strong senior stakeholder management across Front Office, COO, Finance, Product Control, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Audit and country teams.
•    Ability to operate with sound judgement in high-volume, time-sensitive and risk-sensitive environments.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and influence senior decision-making.
