About the role

As the Head of Data & AI Strategy, Standards & Governance, you will lead the team responsible for defining and directing AGL’s enterprise Data & AI strategy, standards, governance frameworks and information architecture. Working across the business, you will partner with senior leaders to shape AGL’s approach to data and AI, ensuring consistent practices, strong governance and strategic alignment that enables the organisation to maximise the value of its data assets.

Reporting to the Chief Data & AI Officer, you will play a critical leadership role in establishing the foundations that support AGL’s Data & AI ambition. You will work closely with Technology, Strategy and Business Unit leaders to develop and evolve enterprise-wide strategies, standards and governance models, while providing leadership on information management, enterprise ontology and data architecture practices.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the development, implementation and evolution of AGL’s enterprise Data & AI Strategy
  • Partner with Group, Technology and Business Unit leaders to align Data & AI priorities with broader business objectives
  • Establish, maintain and govern enterprise Data & AI standards, policies and practices
  • Lead the development and management of AGL’s Data & AI governance frameworks, procedures and tools
  • Own and mature AGL’s enterprise information architecture, including ontology, information models and key data definitions
  • Chair the AI Council and provide strategic leadership on enterprise AI governance and decision-making
  • Monitor compliance with Data & AI standards and governance requirements, managing remediation where required
  • Engage with external partners and industry networks to incorporate emerging trends and best practice into AGL’s Data & AI strategy and operating model
  • Champion data as a strategic enterprise asset and drive improved governance, quality and value realisation outcomes
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team while supporting organisational change across a complex enterprise environment

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience developing and executing enterprise Data & AI strategies within large, complex organisations
  • Strong background in strategy development and operating model design, particularly across multi-business-unit environments
  • Experience establishing and governing enterprise data management frameworks, standards and governance models
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and leading enterprise-wide change initiatives
  • Experience in highly regulated or operational industries such as energy, telecommunications, manufacturing or similar
  • Strong understanding of information architecture, information modelling, ontology and enterprise data management practices
  • Experience developing business cases to support foundational technology and capability investments
  • People leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing high-performing teams
