About Us

Oakwood Creative Care is a growing nonprofit reimagining how communities support older adults and families navigating cognitive and physical challenges. Our model blends clinical services with community-based programs, creating a more holistic, relationship-centered approach to care.

About the Role

We are seeking a Healthcare Billing & Contracting Specialist to manage billing operations and help us navigate reimbursement for a non-traditional, community-based care model.

This is not a typical clinic billing role.

Our services span both clinical and community-based programs, which means billing is not always straightforward. We need someone who can:

  • Work within Medicare/Medicaid requirements
  • Think critically about how services align with reimbursement
  • Help us build clear, compliant pathways for billing in a non-traditional setting

This is a hands-on role where you will own billing processes while working closely with the CFO to ensure our programs are financially sustainable.

Key Responsibilities

Billing & Revenue Cycle

  • Submit and manage claims (Medicare, VA, AAA, Community based programs, and Medicaid)
  • Track and resolve denials and follow up on unpaid claims
  • Post payments and ensure accurate reconciliation
  • Maintain clean, compliant billing practices

Contracting & Credentialing Support

  • Assist with payer enrollment and credentialing
  • Support contract setup and maintain organized records
  • Track reimbursement rates and contract details
  • Partner with CFO on payer-related processes

Navigating a Non-Traditional Model

  • Help align services with billing and reimbursement requirements
  • Identify where services may or may not be billable
  • Support development of clear, compliant billing processes for new programs
  • Bring practical problem-solving to situations that don’t fit standard models

Process & System Support

  • Help improve billing workflows and documentation processes
  • Identify issues and suggest practical improvements
  • Work with clinicians to ensure documentation supports billing

Qualifications

Required

  • Direct, hands-on experience with Medicare billing
  • Experience managing claims, denials, and collections
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems

Preferred

  • Medicaid billing experience (AHCCCS strongly preferred)
  • CPB or CPC certification
  • Experience with credentialing or payer enrollment
  • Experience in outpatient or community-based healthcare settings

What We’re Looking For

  • Someone who is comfortable working in a
    less traditional healthcare environment
  • A practical problem-solver who can navigate ambiguity
  • Detail-oriented and reliable
  • Able to work independently and follow through
  • Interested in mission-driven work

Why Join Oakwood

  • Be part of a model that is rethinking how care is delivered
  • Work closely with leadership in a small, collaborative team
  • Opportunity to help shape systems in a growing organization
  • Meaningful work that directly supports individuals and families
