Job Summary

 

The Indirect Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting indirect tax compliance, tax technology maintenance, reporting, reconciliations, and audit support activities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate tax determination and compliance across multiple jurisdictions while supporting Shared Services and Project Phoenix initiatives. The Analyst works closely with the Indirect Tax Manager and business partners to maintain strong controls and efficient processes. 

 

Location

 

Hybrid 3 days in office.  100% in office during transition.

 

What Shared Service Does

 

A Shared Services Center (SSC) centralizes critical business processes, streamlining operations, reducing costs, and delivering consistent quality. By consolidating areas such as finance, procurement, payroll, and reporting, SSC eliminates duplication, frees time for strategic priorities, and fosters efficiency. SSC's primary functions include:

 

  • O2C (Order-to-Cash): Manages the customer journey from order to payment, driving smoother revenue processes.
  • R2R (Record-to-Report): Enables robust financial reporting and accounting.
  • P2P (Procure-to-Pay): Ensures timely vendor payments and strong supplier relationships. Manages the Travel and Expense program.
  • Center of Excellence: Drives innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Payroll (Hire-to-Retire): Ensures accurate, compliant employee payments.

 

Shared Services enables companies to focus on growth and strategic goals while maintaining operational excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Sales & Use Tax Compliance

 

  • Prepare and support U.S. Sales & Use Tax return filings.
  • Gather and analyze tax data from Vertex, SAP, and other source systems.
  • Validate transaction data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support timely filing and payment of indirect tax obligations.
  • Monitor tax accounts and assist with compliance calendar management.

 

Tax Technology & Systems Support

 

  • Maintain exemption certificate records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with taxability mapping reviews and system configuration testing.
  • Support Vertex tax content updates and routine system maintenance activities.
  • Assist in testing tax-related system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Help investigate and troubleshoot tax determination issues.

 

Compliance & Reporting

 

  • Perform reconciliations between Vertex, SAP, and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare recurring compliance reports and analyses.
  • Maintain documentation supporting tax filings and compliance activities.
  • Track tax notices and assist with responses and resolutions.
  • Support property tax compliance activities as assigned.

 

Audit Support

 

  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with gathering data requested by tax authorities.
  • Maintain organized records to support audit readiness.

 

Process Improvement

 

  • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and automation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to indirect tax compliance and reporting.
  • Support documentation of tax procedures and controls.

 

Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with AP, AR, Procurement, Accounting, and Operations teams to resolve tax-related issues.
  • Respond to routine internal tax questions regarding taxability and exemptions.
  • Participate in training and development activities.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in indirect tax, accounting, finance, or related area.
  • Basic understanding of Sales & Use Tax principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exposure to Vertex O Series preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment..
