(IND) SENIOR MANAGER, DATA ENGINEERING

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Data Engineering with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), modern data architectures, and large-scale distributed systems. This role combines hands-on technical leadership, solution architecture, and team management, driving the design, development, and adoption of scalable data platforms.The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering mindset, proficiency in Scala, Spark, and Big Data technologies, and demonstrates an agentic mindset - proactively identifying opportunities, driving outcomes, and enabling intelligent automation across data ecosystems.

What you'll do:
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Lead the design and architecture of scalable, resilient, and high-performance data platforms on Google Cloud (GCP).
- Define and implement data engineering best practices, including data modeling, pipeline orchestration, and data governance.
- Architect solutions using Big Data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop ecosystem, and distributed systems.
- Ensure alignment to enterprise data strategy, including data products, SSoT, and platform standardization.
Engineering & Delivery
- Drive end-to-end data pipeline development using Scala, Spark, and modern ETL/ELT frameworks.
- Lead development of batch and real-time data processing pipelines leveraging GCP services like BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.
- Ensure high code quality, performance optimization, and scalability across data systems.
- Oversee production stability, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Manage and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Drive talent development, performance management, and succession planning.
- Promote a collaborative environment across cross-functional teams including Product, Architecture, and Business stakeholders.
Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with senior leadership to translate business priorities into data engineering roadmaps.
- Lead discussions with stakeholders on architecture decisions, trade-offs, and technology adoption.
- Drive platform modernization initiatives, migration strategies, and cloud adoption programs.
Agent Mindset & Innovation
- Demonstrate an agentic approach—proactively identifying gaps, removing blockers, and driving measurable outcomes.
- Leverage automation, AI-driven workflows, and intelligent data pipelines to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Champion data-driven decision-making and continuous innovation within the organization.
What you'll bring:
- 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Big Data, or related domains.
- Strong hands-on expertise in:
- Scala and Apache Spark
- Big Data technologies (Hadoop ecosystem, distributed computing frameworks)
- Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP):
- BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer (Airflow)
- Proven track record in designing and architecting large-scale data platforms.
- Strong experience in data modeling, ETL/ELT frameworks, and pipeline orchestration.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
- Experience with data product architecture and data monetization use cases.
- Knowledge of real-time streaming technologies (Kafka, Pub/Sub, etc.).
- Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, or large-scale enterprise data platforms.
- Strong system design and problem-solving skills
